I had this in large format (3L) and was surprised to find that it was far from being over the hill: in fact the tannins were still somewhat firm. If you have the same format I recommend waiting a bit longer if you can. That said, this was a real crowd pleaser today. Flavors were nicely balanced.

Tasting very nicely now, and likely has started it's peak run with all the elements blending together. The wood elements (which there are plenty in this wine) have melded with the fruit and tannins. The wine has taken on a sensual "California Claret" persona

Very surprising...a cut above other Santa Ynez cabs I have tried (with the possible exception of those coming from Star Lane). Definitely needs some air time, but about 30 minutes (or more) reveals some cranberry and dark cherry, integrated nicely with the oak. Finishes dryly and nicely, reminiscent of a dark chocolate covered espresso bean, with very smooth tannins and no alcoholic heat. This one is over-delivering, as it should for 60 bones. Thanks to Jae & John for the memorable housewarming gift.
