Very good. Clear, pale, gold with legs. Clean, medium intensity fully developed nose of peach, lemon, yogurt and almonds. Dry, medium (+) acid, medium (+) alcohol (13.5%), medium (+) body, medium flavour intensity with lemon, peach, almonds, cream and an oily texture. Very good, quite complex, perhaps over the hill and ruining what would have been an outstanding bottle 2-3 years ago. Drink now, certainly not suitable for further aging and may already just be a bit too old. Cork.

I love the honeyed florals of Guigal CdR blanc. Good and qpr every year. Honeysuckle and waxed tropical fruits in the mouth. God texture, medium acidity and easy on the mouth despite standard heavy alcohol on the Blanc CdR. No heat on the finish. Very enjoyable as per usual.

Blind tasting ($14.99). Clear light pale yellow appearance. Aroma of pear cider, light to moderate booze, green apple, light lemon blossom, and a bit of tartness. The flavor is definitely somewhat buttery and the alcohol is kind of strong. Slightly tart and acidic. Slightly juicy. Semi-dry. Lots of apple and pear. Some floral notes. I'm not a big fan.

This is pretty much as close as you can get to a can't miss wine. They have the facility, the vineyards, and the history to make sure this wine is a winner every vintage. 2009 is no exception. This stainless steel fermented wine is especially vibrant. The flavors and aromas almost jump out of the glass. The approximate 50% Viognier brings an almost oily, heavy structure with honeysuckle and especially plantaines. The other white Rhone varietals help with the lemon and tropical fruit. They also bring and acidic freshness along with some earthy tones. The color is unusually clear. Almost perfect viscosity, surprisingly light for this much Viognier. Everything works, very refreshing. Honey, lemon and melon and banana on the finish.

OK QPR. It's a bit watery, though it did seem to open and present a bit more after a half an hour. I may try again as I suspect there could be bottle variation in this high volume label.

Light watery straw in color, the aromas are medium in intensity with light mineral oil and some lemon peel, with just a touch of fresh parsley. Medium bodied, with the characteristic almost-but-not-quite flabby mouthfeel of CdR blanc, there is just enough acidity to carry through and make this food friendly. A little bit of stone fruit and a little bit of diluted nectarine. The lemon peel bitterness on the finish is not unpleasant, and this wine is quite dry. Overall, a solid $14 white to serve with fish or light pork preparations.

Apricot, white peach and white flowers with an underlying acidity and minerality that show more as the wine opens up. Fresh, yet with a sneaky richness. One of the better white wines available on the SAQ general list. Drink now-2012. Food pairing: Richer fish with sauce.

Note: needs about 15-30 minutes to open up. Without breathing quite bitter on the front palate. After opening up a very nice Cote du Rhone blanc, to me not as good as the Saint-Cosme, but otoh it's only € 7,50 compared to the € 11,50 for the Saint-Cosme, so very good QPR here. It's a bit more powerful and floral than the Saint-Cosme, which is more subtle and elegant.

The 2009 vintage is truly one of the best white wine values in the world and is spectacular for money. We have been drinking this wine for 15 years in different vintages. Some vintages, we buy a few bottles, other vintages we buy cases and serve it as our house wine. As we drink wine every evening in our household and have a substantial cellar, it is sometimes difficult to decide on a white white. Not with this wine in the cellar. This vintage particularly will pair with shellfish, sushi, spicy foods, delicate fish. It has a wonderful exotic almost honeyed flavor, and in this vintage has some nice structure. We are 6 cases into the vintage and have 5 more on order. However, let me make one thing clear, you need to serve this wine at cellar temperature, (no less than 55). Chilling this wine is a mistake, as with all Rhone whites. We often bring the wine from the cellar and let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes before drinking. This is one wine we don't get tired of. It takes on its own character with almost every food pairing. Enjoy because in the next vintage this wine could be a total different experience.
