- Garnet color with slow forming legs and aromas of tobacco, smokey and tea. It's balanced and has flavours of black pepper, blackberry, black currant and chocolate with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a long finish - Decanted 90 minutes. Smoked meat on the nose. Incredibly peppery tannins even after decant.

Brick colour. Very little fruit, smoke. Dried fruit after 30 min. Restraines but aromatically good. A very appealing sweetness from ripe fruit, dry good mouthfeel. Ripe tannins. Good with grilled meat and even without food if you like natural winemaking.

Nose of cherry, charred oak and earth. On the palate big black cherry, new oak, smoke & spice, some graphite and light earth. Full bodied, Parker style Bordeaux. Young and should develop - will be interested to see how this compares to the 2000 down the road. Tasty and a great value. The wife loved it.

Generous aroma and taste of ripe fruit. Well balanced with nice acidity makes this wine very interesting. Short to medium finish. Medium to full body. Wonderful QPR.

The only other vintage of this wine that i've tasted is the 2000, which was complex, utterly delicious, and a massive QPR.
This wine, on the other hand, brings a familiar disappointment that I've experienced with a number of 2009 Bordeaux bottlings from smaller producers. Which is to say that the Fougas is highly polished, free of overt flaws, bursting with fruit, yet wholly uninteresting in an overproduced new-world kind of style.

Not a fan at all. Maybe I had a bad bottle however it was nowhere near as a good as other vintages.

Nez merveilleusement épanoui, cèdre, fruits rouge et noir (mûre), poivré, bonne mâche, bonne longueur, finale moyenne, un délice !

Earthy black cherries, smoke and black raspberries are easy to find in this concentrated, easy to like and already open, Bordeaux value wine.
