A slightly unusual 2009 Haut-Medoc in that it seems rather classy and slightly stern and does not show any of the opulent sweet fruit encountered in many 2009s. This is a midweight wine, juicy and with bright acidity, with some dark blackcurrant fruit, classy graphite notes, coffee, a bit of a peated whisky flavor and still some slightly chewy and vegetal tannins on the finish. I'd give it two to four additional years of bottle age for further refinement. It still tastes young, but it is solid now when paired with red meat. - 88+ points

Dark purple-black red, no signs of ageing. Floral nose of violets, light rose, slight pepper, backed by ripe black fruits (figs). Medum bodied, some tannins, floral petals. Two more years before real smoothness (suppleness). Pleasant claret with a decent length just coming into its own.

Je ne peux pas dire que ce vin n'est pas bon mais il ne se démarque pas des autres vins de cette appellation que j'ai dégustés. À ce prix (et moins cher), il y a mieux.

Chocolate, cassis and some freshness on the nose. Medium-bodied with a mass of fruit, including appealing balance with a bitter cherry, coffee and dark chocolate. Very mild tannin, but excellent value and very decent claret punching well above its weight.

Black fruit and oak at the nose, same at taste but I was deceived, the wine turned on too much earth after an hour...the fruit was barely present and the oak and earth notes were dominant...not what I expected from that wine.

I just finished a 375ml bottle of 2009 Château Lamothe-Bergeron and unfortunately I am not really convinced. The appealing etiquette showing the château as it was constructed in 1868 and the opaque color looked very promising in the beginning. However the bouquet and the palate were heavily dominated by oak. It is a matter of taste but in my opinion they have overdone it with the wood. I stay neutral and do not give any rating because the wine is still much too young to do so.

Opens with an attractive nose of rich, creamy cassis fruit; a touch of earthiness. Not complex but attractive. Good fruit on the palate and rich in tanins. After about 2hrs in decanter, started to lose the nose and the fruit. Oak becomes dominant and there is an increasing astringency and bitterness on the palate. Decent wine if you drink in the first couple of hours; but can do better for the price.

Medium body. Licorice nose. Leather, tobacco and black fruit flavor. A bit out of balance. Needs more time and will probably get a a few more points. But a good value.

Tight and unforgiving at opening, the wine was much smoother and enjoyable the next day. Nothing much else to say though. Keep and watch it's development.

NotHing enjoyable about this wine, no tannins, no fruit, really fade. At that price 37$, not worth it.

Solid and decent but lacks refinement (tannins) and is not really going anywhere.
