A tasty dessert wine with toasted coconut, caramel, butterscotch and almonds. This '03 is drinking very good with a long drinking window in front of it.

Amber color. Kind of an Alsatian gewurz like nose of lychee and apricot/peach and that botrytis smell. Thick and very sweet, Amaretto almond, peach, vanilla and a hint of orange peel/grand marnier. Very good but not quite great.Could use a bit more acid and spice

Dark gold. Nose of trampled grapes and honey. On the palate it is rich and sweet, predominantly notes of honey with a bits of peach, apricot, and orange marmalade showing through. Has a liquor edge on the finish. A bit too cloying for me as it lacks enough acidity to carry the sweetness.

One of the tastiest dessert wines in memory. It is similar in quality to a good Tokaij or Sauternes. It falls short of my very favorite wines in that category but 94 is a high rating so don't ready much into the "falling short" part. A bit on the fresher, concentrated side. What it lacks are the "off" notes of botrytis (sp?) of Tokaij or the candied super-concentration of Y'quem, for instance. For the price, this wine is unbeatable.

selected members of the central jersey CT off-line group joined us for dinner at selkirk manor. shared this bottle with pat, chris, margaret and dom. paired with dessert course consisting of a cheese plate provided by dom followed by italian cheesecake from la bella market. was unfamiliar with this wine at the time of tasting but researched afterward. i agree with various articles indicating that in a blind tasting this would pass for a better than average sauternes. generous nose. typical mouthfeel of a french sticky. lots of honey and honeysuckle with a hint of tea on the palate. more interesting on the second day than the first as it seemed to have put on some weight. this is understandandable given the considerable longevity suggested by parker. the only shortcoming was a slight metallic taste in the finish although this was less noticeable on the second day. seems to be a great qpr even though i can't score as high as parker did. overall, a great experience. thanks for your generosity chris.

White & Red Burgs & a Couple Others (Edina Country Club, Edina, MN): Deep gold color. Drank 1 glass over 20 minutes. This was a little warmer than intended at 62 degrees and I think it was muted a bit. Still pretty impressive stuff and we'll see what happens on day 2 at a better temperature. Really nice nose with orange peel, citrus, melon, orange blossom, spice. The palate has a botrytis laden crème brule character with toasted nuts, citrus, honey, and a long finish. 93+pts.

Minneapolis Wine Club Offline: Outstanding stuff and well beyond its' price point. Honey, apricots, orange peel and marmalade. Medium to long finish and concentrated. Great value.

Very enjoyable wine on a nice summer evening. There are notes of apricot, honey, and dates. This is a good QPR as it comes in a 500ML bottle. I drank over the course of 3 evenings, and I noticed it took on a more defined taste of dates and raisins (like a port) as the days progressed. Nothing too dramatic, but enough for me to notice.

Wow. Lovely stuff. Last bottle of a long evening of food and drink celebrating better half's 50th. I thought it might stand up to the New York cheesecake and it did! Peach, honey, butterscotch, and an almond nuance which carried on to the finish to leave a luscious marzipan aftertaste. Bought in the mid 2000's at Auchan supermarket in a Paris suburb...will have fond memories of the experience. I wish I had another...sadly I don't!

Birthday Dinner for S2 (Chez S1): Thick mouthcoating texture with hints of honey and dried apricot with a little spiced peach. While the sugars are not over the top cloying, it is lacking acidity making it seem a bit heavy and plodding.

Isaacjamesbaker notes were spot on, so I just copied them: What a nice way to end the evening. Intoxicating aromas of honey, apricot and golden apple. The palate is plush with butterscotch, almond paste, nougat and honeycomb. Pure and concentrated, showing both the richness of botrytis and the 2003 vintage. Somehow, it maintains enough balance to be not goopy. I love the honey and amaretto flavors on the finish. Wish I had more of this.

Popped and poured. Dark brown in color, pronounced oxidative sherry like aroma at first. As time goes on, it opens up with aromas of apricot and vanila. All is well however, with rich flavors of apricot and creme brulee which evolve and grow more complex over time. Lovely finish with notes of orange peel. This is very good, but needs more structure and backbone. As it is, there is some flabbiness that makes it a little too cloying as time goes on.

Birthday Dinner with Good Wine (NEXT Restaurant - Chicago IL): Very rich and concentrated dried and fresh apricot and peach. Very ripe, very powerful. Much more energy and freshness than I expected for the 2003. Good now, better going forward.
