Interesting because this bottle was pale and frothy, with some toasty development on the nose, but just a hint of drying on the palate. Yes, it is a relatively dry style, but I think the underlying fruit is fading. Maybe that's picky--good wine but not for long keeping.

A wonderful bottle. Previous ones have been distinctly light and lacy, but this was suddenly more mature with greater roundness and complexity yet retaining a delicacy and elegance. Perhaps fully mature.

Out of magnum. Great nose of biscuit with faint orange flower. Very dry. Palate is a bit lean, quite crisp, pear fruit, but faint. Dry, well balanced , astringent in a good way.

Light golden colour, fine and rather persistent mousse. Somewhat discrete nose with yellow and red apples, some winter apples, toasted notes including toasted bread and toasted hazelnuts, some other notes of development. Medium bodied, again yellow and red apples, good acidity, some minerality, and an apply finish. A fine Pinot-styled Champagne with some development that drinks well now, but many 2002s have more weight than this and are generally more impressive. 88 p.

From magnum. This was much better than my previous bottle three years ago. Complex and very appealing, although the dosage is perhaps a bit high for my preferences. Toast, nuts and yellow fruits. Probably at its peak right now. Excellent!

Wasn't expecting much rather unfairly as I had an uninspiring 1989 about a decade or so ago. Turned out to be rather nice bubbly, definitely ready to drink!

On the basis of my previous note, I appear to have misjudged this wine. Delicate yes, but so refined. Not a show-stopper but one for careful consideration. Strawberry and brioche nose. Delicate mousse. Refined and long.

Opened one hour before serving. With this sitting next to the 2002 Dom Perignon, the nose definitely expresses more developed bouquet of biscuits, toast alongside its nuttiness, and fruits flavours of honeydew, pineapple and lime. Bubbles are still promisingly fine. Medium gold in colour, the palate is rounder over time with toasty notes on the initial entry accompanied with citrus fruits of orange peels, passionfruit.
Very similar to my previous notes upon pop and pour. Hence, gave it an hour before pouring this time. Over time, the wine continues gaining weight which evolves to quite a mouth-full towards the end. The rather initial acidity begins to slowly get rounded over time though still broad and impactful on the finish.

The 2002 Joseph Perrier Champagne Cuvee Royale is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 41% Pinot Noir and 9% Pinot Meunier, a Champagne that is of a pale and medium (-) gold in colour. Bubbles are fine and not aggressive with a medium moose. A toasty nose with pineapples and honeydew. A pronounced honey dew, green apple and slight orange ppel on the palate. Crisp and fresh. Rather racy acidity towards the end with a medium finish. There's a nice acidity that lifts the flavours throughout.
It's still rather young in my opinion, I might wait a little longer maybe. Nonetheless, pleasant drinking now, a great palate cleanser after heavy meals particularly.

Pale lemon; honeyed toasty nose. Nice aromas here, good intensity. Whiff of fino sherry; light, delicate palate. A little short to be above merely satisfying. Quite evolved again, not a keeper. Refreshing, pleasant. Fine.

Orange gold colour. Nose richer--more pinot-like than in the past. Fine bubbles. Still with the hallmark delicacy on the palate.

This bottle had delicious gently ripe fruit combined with a long elegant palate. No drying or oxidation this time.

A charmer. Light, lovely but in a slightly oxidised style (or rather developed). Not particularly bubbly. Enjoy now.

Great small effervescent bubbles, yeasty notes, slightly off mid-palate for me. Overall have had better for less

Déçu, ce champagne ne sortait pas de l'ordinaire pour son prix et son millésime. Attention, il est plutôt bon, mais plutôt quelconque.

Pale colour. Pretty but not defined nose. Lacks a little concentration and complexity but good value at £30 with discount.
