Eucalyptus, earth, and dark fruit on the nose, lower acid than I would have expected, chewy tannins and a long finish. Rounded and somewhat feminine-more like a St Joseph than a Cote Rotie.

A lovely wine. Soft and smooth on the front palate - big in the middle and a nice slow long finish. Drink now as I don't think it is going to get any better.

Drinking very nicely now. Delicious and smooth, with a nose of spice, smoke, a hint of white pepper and violets (?, or some floral thing). More spice and raspberry and a long, luxurious finish. It has matured into a lovely bottle of wine. Has enough structure to last 10 more years.

Silky, smooth Tempranillo. Drinking very well now and has enough substance to last another 5 years+. Paired with Copper River salmon and grilled brussel sprouts. A surprisingly good match.

A little worried about this one at first. popped and poured at Purple. Initial taste showed no nose with an unpleasant mid palate and no finish. Wondered if it was a bad bottle. Had the waitress taste it, and thought it would be okay with time. She was right, 15 min later, it was signing. The bottle did not survive the night.

Dark berries, deep earthy nose, wine is mellowing and primed to drink. I'm likely to drink my other bottles as I feel this is peeking. Nice structure, easy to drink, dark cherry, blackberry, medium finish. All around nice bottle.

deep meaty, berry aroma, full-bodied, rich but held up well with acid, the palate is intriguing and lush, plums, spices, dark cherries, juicy blackberry and blueberry pie, shows a modern side of Tempranillo, shows some oak, and everything comes together well in balance, never got too heavy, a match with heavy stew dishes

PnP. This was a brawny, tannic Tempranillo. All the telltale signs of a quality (new world) Tempranillo were there, but I should have decanted it for a few hours before consuming. Mellowed out over the 2 hours the group drank, but still quite a beast.

Aromal notes of smoked vanilla, raspberry, forest floor, earth, clay and lovely-lovely bacon. Slippery smooth and clean on the tongue augmented with anise, molasses, cherry pie, currants, earth, a touch of saline, wet pavement, brier and more bright fruit. This wine evolved beautifully over 4-5 hours framed with complexity, lucidity and immaculate balance on the glycerin finish. Holding another 1-2+ years will be worthwhile.

Decided to bring some Walla Walla favorites with me for fall release weekend. This is a killer bottle of wine, and a rarity in WA state (or anywhere in the US ): Tempranillo. A medium-bodied and savory wine with lively acidity and mild tannins. Smoke, leather and tobacco on the nose, and an ethereal savory flavors on the palate of rich but lively dark fruits, tobacco, and dried fruits. Wonderful. Probably not a keeper - ready now, and over the next couple of years. Can't wait to try the '09 and '10.

Maple syrupy nose, chunky cherry palate and a real thin midsection. American oak is still a little rambunctious wish I drank this 1-2 years ago, but as of now it's not much better than the Eveshams at a quarter of the price.

Weird wild red. Described as having dung, cherry, and maple syrup on nose by our group. Sweet, medium bodied finish. Its tough to say whether this was varietal correct given the currently schism is Spanish wines. Unique. A wine that makes you say Wha?

This is a flat-out delicious New World tempranillo though I am hopeful that the oak will diminish over time. At a recent Spanish-themed dinner, a couple of older riservas were pushed aside until this bottle was drained.

A bit generic tasting, this wine offered roasted strawberry and plum notes, with a pronounced minty note on the finish that made this wine taste more like a Napa Cab than a Tempranillo. A tasty wine, but somewhat generic. Disappointing. That said, this is a wine that could reveal more after a couple years of cellaring. I'll sit on my second bottle until mid-2013.

Tasting room visit- 9/9. Aromas and flavors of vanilla, cola, cinnamon, and cherry. An additional mineral/earth note on the palate. Smooth and silky, with fine tannins that finish with spice notes. A solid medium length finish. Very nice.

Drank @ the Gorge with no formal notes, this is wine I'd drink again, 90-91 points or so on my scale. I've had worse Spanish Tempranillo in this price range, and I've had better. I have 2 more test bottles of Gramercy to try over the next couple of months but based on this bottle, Gramercy is a winery I would consider buying direct from in the future; I hope their mailer comes around at the right time. Still, $45 Syrah is pushing it given that Big Basin Fairview and Bedrock are cheaper and already known thrillers. OTOH $45 Cab looks attractive. Looking forward to those other 2 wines.

Decanted for maybe too long. This wine was very soft and not as defined as I remembered at the tasting room. Continued to evolve with every sip, but softened trememdously as the night went on. I think Gramercy is the next big deal in WA.

Among the best new wines I've tried in 2011. Discovered this while in Walla Walla for the Cayuse release party. I've had it twice since then, and it's as good as I remember. The best Tempranillo I've had outside of Spain, and by far the best WA State one I've had, including Cayuse's version. Yes, it's a tad oaky and creamy (as others have said), but what a flavor profile. It's got a life ahead of it, but it's so good now, I'm not sure I'll ever get to try it in middle age. Worth seeking out.

I enjoyed this wine more than I thought I would, but I'm not sure that it really spoke of Tempranillo. I'm even more unsure of what the appeal of Washington Tempranillo is at the $45 price point. IMO, that seems like that's pretty high when that's the price range you can get a Spanish Tempranillo for...

91- Initial nose of peppercorn, currant, fig on the nose-opens up after 2 hrs to a more integrated, floral bouquet. A rich brew of red and blue fruit on the palate with a layered and velvety- smooth mouthfeel; orange peel accent? Nice finish- leans toward exotic in a refreshing way. A quality wine.

90% Tempranillo, 5% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre. American oak (2nd fill), 15mons. Aniseed, ground cardamom, dark ripe plum and leather fill the palate generously. Aromatics of black fruit, thistle, saline and tarragon make this a very interesting wine to inhale. Chewy tannins lead me to think this will have a long life left to it.

Seriously? They named the wine after Inigo Montoya? As in ""Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die"? That Inigo Montoya? So, these guys at Gramercy Cellars apparently have a sense of humor. And good for them for using it. But, I can assure, there is nothing humorous about this wine - it is absolutely well-crafted and delicious. Of the 4 GC wines tasted this evening, this was my favorite (and my wife's favorite as well). The nose opens up nicely with dubtle black fruit, earth, tree bark and tobacco leaf. On the palate, more of the same, but with a touch of menthol (more like a sweet menthol than a medicinal variety). Unbelievably well balanced, especially for a wine at this price point, with zero heat on a very long, almost oily finish. I would love to pair this with the right food, so will definitely go grab some more bottles.
