Apricot, lemon curd, guava, tiny bit of wet stone, a little nuttiness. High acidity, buttery, tropical fruit whipped cream, pineapple. Full body. Hint of spice, white pepper on the finish. Medium finish.

This was the last of my three bottles, served pop and pour. It greeted me with a rich and intense aroma, boasting notes of butterscotch and honey. However, I found it lacking in acidity. It seems this bottle has already passed its sweet spot, perhaps best enjoyed earlier for a more balanced experience.

93-94 pts

Lovely, rich nose with notes of butter, citrus, popcorn, and apple. Nice acidity to offset the richness with intense flavors of lemon, zesty notes, and a slight bitterness on the palate. Long finish. This was beautiful, powerful, and serious, just like a Chevalier should be.
Side note: this wine didn't hold up at all the next day, I probably wouldn't hold this much longer. But day 1 was great!

The one with Sexy Tapas (Kolabo): Flint, smoke, cut grass and fresh flowers open on the bouquet with sudachi, lilies and limestone on the palate. Good weight and precision with sufficient acidity and tension.
My contribution and while it presented much younger than an 09 this was lacking in the magic department - not quite showing that chevalier heft

From 1/2 bottle. Color is very pale straw. On the nose: lemon citrus, beeswax and white flowers. On the palate: Soft lemon, buttery vanilla custard and white flowers. Mouthfeel is very elegant and smooth. This is a very nice refined white burgundy. A lot of life in this and it’s a 1/2 bottle so I would guess the standard bottle really has a long way to go.

Surprisingly bright and light lemony color belying its age. Nose is rather restrained but very fresh with notes of lime, white flowers and slight mineral tones. On the palate it is also very fresh with refreshingly high acidity balanced by crisp fruit. Refreshing and understated with minimal notes of smoke and oak in the aftertaste. In its youth it was almost bland, now it is vibrant, refreshing if understated. Essentially a food wine, with grilled fish it was sublime. Seems to have a long life ahead of it.

Very good indeed - as it should be at the price. Very clean delineated, lovely rich mouthfeel, perfumed honeyed lemon nose and palate. Not a hint of premox. The palate is backed by cream, toast and vanilla. There is excellent freshness here too - so a very balanced structure. Persistent and complex, still young - absolutely no sign of ageing.
Gorgeous though this is the top Cali cabs offer similar profiles (OK they are bit bigger and richer) at less cost.

White burgs at Wu's.: White Burgs at Wu's. Tom's blind. I was convinced this was Raveneau - this had mint, a touch of citrus and was more lithe than broad, and I think we were all a bit shocked when it was revealed as a Chevy. This was a very nice bottle of wine, but it didn't really have the power of a Chevy or anywhere near the richness of the 09 vintage. Perhaps with a decant? This is the oldest bottle of white Burgundy I've had under DIAM (I've had some 2010 Montille), but I doubt that makes a difference.

Tasted double blind. The level of ripeness hintet at 2009. While it is fun to drink, this wine has not the substance, the concentration and expression you would expect from a Chevalier Montrachet.
TN: Citrus, apple, some baking spices and just hints of nutty aromas on the nose. Same aromas with some sexy burnt sugar notes on the palate. Medium- concentration, a bit light although it gained a bit of body with some air, ok precision and good freshness.
Decanting: Not decanted, mayber a few hours would have helped to unlock a few more layers.

Always terrifying opening a 10 year old Grand Cru White Burgundy these days but a delicious bottle here. Perhaps not the most exciting Chev ever but really good & lot's of pleasure to be had here. The richness of the vintage has been reigned in somewhat by the terroir. Good bottles should continue to drink well for a few years yet.

Much better showing than 2.5 years ago. Colour is still very light shiny lemony. The nose is of medium intensity and very clean with a typical Burgundian oak nicely measured, with notes of crisp citrus fruit with a light butter touch and a whiff of smoke and minerals. On the palate it is medium bodied, crisp and refreshing with a nice balance between acidity and body. Still feels young. A good Burgundy of fair complexity and depth of flavour capable of evolving further.

Lovely. I don't have much to add to dcwino and Panos' notes. There's no reason to fear over-ripeness because of the vintage here. The elegance and grand crub pedigree of chevalier come through in buckets.

Mostly 1966 Bordeaux and other surprises (Ripple Restaurant in Washington D.C.): When I opened this for Caroline Blundell and Ripple restaurant owner Roger Marmet we all loved it. Of course, 2009 is a warmer vintage but the terroir of Chevalier Montrachet is cool - and the winemaking at Bouchard has been hitting on all cylinders in recent years. Thus an excellent wine. Full bodied, with a sense of high dry extract lending density, yet supple and subtle, white stone fruit notes, such as very ripe pear, combined with wet stone led to a long and satisfying finish. Yes, this wine lacks the freshness of, say, 2008 or 2010, but I suspect that over time, it will age gracefully provided that there is no premature oxidation. Not a hint of that, at this 5+ year mark in bottle...

66 Bordeaux dinner (Ripple Restaurant in DC): There is very waxy/lanoline note which is typical in Chevalier Montrachets. Ripe pear/white peach, lanoline, white pepper, saline and strong presence of mineral. Very good concentration, strong presence of mineral, nicely layered fruits, shy acidity and long clean finish. It maintains good precision despite slightly lacking acidity due to strong presence of mineral. My guess is that this will develop like the top 92 GC Montrachets, ie slightly lacking acidity but strong mineral note to maintain the balance and precision. Need at least ten more years to reach the peak.

Lemony colored. Nose offers white fleshed fruit, pear, peach with good purity and clarity. Yet I would expect more from a Chevalier-Montrachet. Maybe too young? Palate is crisp and well proportioned, if a little sweet.

Color is light lemony. Nose initially offers tinned pineapple fruit. With air it reveals more nuanced fruit, and a few mineral and floral tones. Palate has impecable purity, reminded me of a Chablis Grand Cru, focused, clean and elegant, drinks as easily as water. Yet the wine does not lack concentration and with time reveals candied and caramelised citrus peel, gentle oak and creamy notes. Superbly balanced, acidity is imperceptible but has to be there. Excellent food wine. More textural than aromatic. No idea how long it can age but at present it is positively youthfull. Strange that the closure is agglomerate cork.
