Dark yellow; nutty and somewhat oxidized; so what are you looking for? A “fresh” old wine with layers of complexity? - not this one; an interesting old wine with oxidiation, a bit of nuttyness, no freshness, but some other flavours which are agreeable - this is the one; so all in all, not a fabolous experience at all, but won’t pour it down the sink either

Bright gold color. Aromas of apples, tea, pineapple and almond skins. Ripe, full-bodied fruit in the mouth with very good depth and depth. Though moderately oxidized, the fruit was fully intact and persistent on the palate and delicious with my wife’s spicy spot prawns.

Fast Times at the Frey's: Medium gold color. Drank a 4 oz pour over an hour. Drank this next to a '10 Shafer RSR and there certainly was a big step up with the Kistler. A fairly big wine no doubt, but not such that it screams at you. I found it very attractive all around. The nose has lovely golden fruits, rich and complex with peah and melon in addition to a toasted oak that was complimenting the fruit well. The palate brings what you expect from the nose, a full bodied gem with depth and class, lemon, peach, butter brickle, almost a bit savory, great texture, it really caresses the mouth nicely, some toasted oak and long complex finish. Excellent. My #2 and group #3WOTN. 93+pts.

Dinner with Friends: Golden in color, big aroma. Chablis like minerality but with rich lucious texture. Peaches, brioche, orange jam with a finish that goes on for almost a minute.

Exact match of bottle consumed on 8/1/2012. Drink now and enjoy it a peak drinking window. Awesome creamy butterscotch with tropical fruit galore this wine is smoking! No longer a green tinged pale yellow color but more golden like a Y'Quem. Not oxidized but oak has melted away and this appears fully mature.

This bottle is at peak drinking window right now and so glad I sampled it. Very surprised at this maturing earlier than expected. Will sample a few more bottles over the next few weeks and report back. Tasting notes consistent with others posted on CT.

Lovely aromatic nose; sweet apple pie/cobbler with an underpinning of soft mineral notes; nice classic, round but balanced mouth, elegant with a good dose of oak, but well integrated; mineral/rocks show through in this wine with good backbone and a long finish. Very nice Classic California Chardonnay, not trying to be anything it isn't.

Fast Times at the Frey's: This does taste like a Kistler. Big and toasty. There is enough acidity here, but it could use more. Full-bodied.

I liked this slightly better than the McCrea I had alongside. Similar minerality, zesty acidity and good core of fruits and very nice focus.

Alluring nose, showing huge butterscotchy oak, but littles else, and not much chardonnay character. Not a great Kistler, disappointing.

A rich, creamy, texture, yet with the acidity to back it up. Layers of citrus and tropical fruit notes, and just enough oak to round it out.
