  • First whiff, big alcohol punch right to the schnozz, there may be some fruit in there but the nose is really a hot, wet mess. Fat on the palate, with a spicy kick from the alcohol, some jammy black fruits, and with aeration a host of vegetal overtones. Yikes!

  • This wine definitely had brett skunk to it that was most evident at cellar temp. At ambient temps, it became more drinkable and less offensive. The nose is skunky, nasty, bretty with a little mint around the edges. Flavors of basil, sour cherry and raspberry compete with the brett. Better warmer, 65-70 F seems to be where the nasty funk is least evident. Major disappointment from a reputable house.

  • Too green for my tastes, the "greenness" starts in the nose which is not bell pepper, but not quite red fruit either. More like wet evergreen needles, not in itself unpleasant, but it is a harbinger of green flavors in the wine itself. Mature red, maybe just an ever so slight brown edge (bricking), the wine is light enough in color to be transparent in the glass. Tannins are there but quite mellow, along with black pepper but that hard green fruit that I always associate with cold weather cab or unripe fruit does something dastardly to this wine. The wine does have a bit of complexity that I feel is its saving grace. Not horrible, just not a great quaff. For $17, this was okay but I could have purchased the same thing for $10 from the central valley of California or Chile. I would not repurchase and I will drink my remaining bottle in '08. I cannot see any improvement with age.

  • Much better than the last time. This had the more typical Cabernet profile...loamy, dark fruits with the peppery nuiances definitely playing a supporting rather than starring role.

  • I've had several bottles of this wine that I've enjoyed immensley, but this particular bottle had an unpleasant astringent quality to the finish. To my palate, WA Cabs usually have a peppery component along with the more traditional Cab flavors of dark fruit & chocolate. This went down like peppered soda. Very atypical.
