Superb bottle. Not only was the label pristine, but it had 3 mm of ullage, and it was difficult to imagine any amber edge. Black currants, and a medley other dark fruits with touch of tobacco. Decanted for an hour. Subtle hints of dark sweet fruit on the nose. At first the tannins were present but not too grippy, some dark fruit and pepper. After two to three hours the wine opened up. Baked blueberry and plum with a hint of vanilla some leather, the tannins soft and mellow. I am sorry I did not buy more.
This bottle, my last, has not appeared to budge in the last five years. Tastes like it’s five or six years old, not 15. Plenty fiery, lots of life it would seem. Rich leather, plum skins, grip in abundance. I thought based on my last note that there might be some risk in holding. I no longer think that. Five more seems safe; ten seems likely; I wouldn’t rule out more than 10.

Paired with a New York prime strip steak, this bottle opened nicely and grew more flavorful about two hours after opening (no decanting). Rich fruit flavors followed by a tangy aftertaste. This is the first we've had of this particular vintage, and while some are saying drink it now I could see it having a few excellent years in it still.

Full, vinous, and sinuous, this is really well made and possesses everything I like about aged Cabernet. A three-hour decant brings out an intense bouquet of black cherry liqueur, cassis, and cedar, quickly followed by fresh herbs, fennel leaves, and bay leaf. The palate is loaded with Old World structure, a classic fruit profile, and a secondary aspect that's grounded in an earthy, savory complexity. Finishes with length and confidence. Has a long life ahead. 93+

Has rounded out nicely. Hides its 14.8% alcohol well. Sweet fruit dominates with a stiff spine lurking beneath it. This could end up with greater complexity once it mellows out a little more, but I would tend to opt for its current accessibility and drink it over the next few years rather than leaving it for the long run. A good effort.

Proudly, a food friendly Napa Cab. Was approachable right out of the bottle. In fact, I'd recommend against decanting, although open it and let it breathe an hour or so before serving. This was paired with grilled hanger steak and house-grown potato galette and it was perfect.

I'm a big fan of Grgich Hills Cabs, though I think this is only my second or third. This one did not disappoint. The nose is delightful. Complex, blended aromas. Good fruit. Indeed, the nose is even a wee bit more pleasant than the palate, although the latter is a pleasure too. Overall value: 4 stars of 5. If you have a half bottle like I did, I think you've got another two or three years to drink it. Excellent (89.5-90.5).

Had a 375mL bottle...this was a good wine, but not a standout. Well balanced for sure, but I would have hoped for a bit more structure from such a relatively young Cab. Nose was a bit strong on the alcohol at first, but that burned off after about 20 minutes in the glass. Short to medium finish marked by dark berries. Probably could benefit from another couple years of age to develop into a more complex wine.

Super dark color, oak and a better expression of cabernet flavor that I love when most modern California cabernets are all starting to taste the same. I'm not sure it's worth the price as there are many less expensive names that taste just as good. If you can afford it, it's a nice addition to the cellar and a well made wine no doubt.

nice vino, dark fruit and oaky up front, with a dry short/medium finish - a bit boozy, but opens up nicely with time in the glass revealing notes of chocolate .. given 2-3 more years this could easily add a couple points..

Very good Napa Cab, but we've had much better for much lower prices, no mistaking it had the right qualities, but the QPR wasn't in it's favour - Dark, full bodied with a nose of blackfruit, plum, mocha, cedar and vanilla, very well structured, decent balance with a bit of heat, dusty tannins, yet sweet on the palate with very good length, tasty but expensive (89 Points).

I've tasted Grgich Hills cabs every year since 2001. For what I thought had become a pretty blah "supermarket" wine in recent years, this one really surprised me. Needed a full 1 hour decant but the nose really opened up to yield blackberry, coffee, cigar box, and underbrush. Great mouthfeel and well balanced.

No detailed notes. Very enjoyable wine with dinner. Clear focused pure red fruits of cassis and cherry, with very prominent dry chewy tannins. Lengthy finish, great purity of of fruit on the finish long with a stony quality and a touch of chocolate. This could use a few years but enjoyed for a more restrained style.

Drinks like a wine twice its prive- BUT- Need to give this minimum 2hrs to open. If you have more than one bottle, then enjoy its progression from first-open to fully ready to drink. Had this with coffee and brown sugar crusted porterhouse. Great combo.

Decent unflawed Cabernet but nothing special. Agree with other tasters on chocolate notes, but tannins were on the lighter side for a wine of this pedigree. Drink now unlikely to improve.

Just insane fruit bomb wine. Big alcohol, leather, slight graphite notes, some intense blackberry. This wine is a healthy deep purple. It's legs too long for my 5'10" frame to handle, I said it. I bought three, gave one as a gift and drank one with the best homemade pork bragiola I have ever had. The recipe is over 100 years old, the chef 12 years shy of that! For the price, there might not be a better big cabernet on the market...

Beautiful nose with blackberries, blackcurrant, dusty attic, crushed rocks and freshly crushed cocoa beans. Very fruit forward and juicy Cabernet, but with great tannic structure to balance it all. Excellent pure fruit with dark cherries and blackberries are dominating the palate. Smooth and approachable now, but with several years of cellaring potential. Very nice long finish with dark fruit and crushed rocks lingering.

This dials in at 14.8% alcohol. It shows a very chocolaty aroma and intense berries on the darker side of the spectrum. It's a bit over the top with the ripeness. The palate is big and rich, with nice balance of chocolaty flavors and deep berries. Grippy tannins build as it's held on the tongue. The finish is again massively grippy, with more chocolate flavors.

Terroirist Blogger Tasting (David White's House): Nose is beautiful Napa cab – lots of big dark fruits (blackberries, black cherries, black currant) with a hint of eucalyptus underneath, along with some gray, wet clay. On the palate, beautifully structured with similar fruits, along with a hint of vanilla.

Decanted 1.5 hours, and it needed it. Initial nose was all heat, gave me insta-reflux. Opened up nicely though - chocolate, dark berries, leather. Went well with grilled filet and bison sirloin. Looong legs.

The Cab was better than the Chardonnay. Some nice fruit and structure, made in more of an old world style.

Tasted over two days.
Day one: pretty ripe. Not too much oak, but not much acid or structure. Not over-the-top, but definitely very ripe.
Day two: with some air, more structure becomes apparent. More evident tannins, and fruit fades quite a bit.
