Nose: Dark Fuits, cherry and vanilla Color: Garnet color Palate: Fruit forward with dark fuits, cherry, and spice flavors Finish: Medium bodied with very low tannins and very little acidity Decanting: Popped an poured Thoughts: This is a wine that we keep in our cellar. We could tell it was getting to the end of it's prime drinking age.

Pleasantly complex nose of black cherry, orange peel, barnyard, and saddle leather. Sadly, the fruit has faded on the palate, revealing a thin, watery red. So-so mouthfeel and abrupt finish.

This is a very understated example of Sangiovese, but has all the characteristics nonetheless. This would have been too harsh a couple of years ago, but in 2013, this vintage has mellowed appreciably. It won't be getting any better with age, so drink em if you got em. The nose shows the berries (I'm not good at picking the tyoe, but to me it is like blackberries) and the tannins are fine and supported by a little minerality. Nice. One typically likes power in a Chianti, which this one lacks, but the balance makes it, well, nice.

Garnet with ruby rim; earthy aromas of cherries and black truffles, barnyard and cedar; mid-bodied and leafy with a fine texture; black fruit - both dried and fresh, black cherries, minerals and spice; dry, earthy finish.

A pretty plain chianti and reserve appears to be just a word on the label. Dark garnet color. Nose has rich minerality and black cherries. Cherries and earthy Tuscan minerality show on the palate. Tannins are pretty coarse on the finish. 5+10+15+6=86

Earthy nose with some underlying fruit, maybe cherry. Fleshy texture with chalky tannins and higher alcohol at first, but smoothed out with time. Sour cherry and a hint of dark chocolate on the finish.

Same as tasting note on 11/26/2011. We used it for a Wine and Food Pairing dinner and paired with Lamb Ravioli and 20 year old pecorino cheese. It complemented the food and the non-red drinkers really like the wine too.

Good, not great. Not a lot of complexity to this wine. Drank reasonably well with pizza, not sure it stood well on its own. Agree with nocoretiree's review on 10/22/2011.

Nose: Dark Fuits, cherry and vanilla Color: Garnet color Palate: Fruit forward with dark fuits, cherry, and spice flavors Finish: Medium bodied with very low tannins and very little acidity Decanting: We decanted for ~30 minutes to bring out the aromas and flavors this wine offered and we were not disappointed Thoughts: This is a very versatile wine that can be drank by itself or paired with food. If paired with food it should be with white meat, pastas or cheeses. This is a bottle we keep in our cellar.

Pleasantly surprised given the other tasting notes. Beautiful garnet color. Nose was classic barrel aged sangiovese. Cherry, tobacco, mushroom on the palate - this had everything going on except that the finish was a touch short. I really like this, especially for $15. Give tihs 30 minutes in the glass and serve slightly chilled. You won't be disappointed. Best with food.

nose - cherry, raspberry, fruity mouth - very ripe red fruit that extends well into the midpalate with a good tannic structure. not overburdened by oak. possibly lacking complexity. as fruit bomby as chianti gets; i quite like this.

This is merely a good wine, not a great wine and many of the notes already written are spot-on. It has a decent nose, but letting it breath and letting it decant did not improve the general flatness and lack of full Sangiovese taste a wine at this price should have. Paid $17.99 for it and it drank like a $10 or $11 Chianti. Disappointing effort by Banfi.

Started out very harsh, gagging at the back of throat due to acidity. After decanting in glass for 15 or minutes notes of cherry begin to warm my nose. The acidity dramatically evened out and made it drinkable. Notes that stood out were a very toasty and yummy oak, dried fruits, currents, earth, and a hint of jammy preserves. I paired this with some Italian pasta with fresh crushed tomatoes and basil.

At BWC tasting. My #8, Group #2. Very rustic, old line chianti. Reduced aromas of earth and blackberries. A touch of cherries and smoke on palate with slightly austere berry notes and oak flavors leading to a firm finish. Tannins are just too resounding at moment, with not enough fruit peeking out at moment. Not sure why group was so high on this one.

Boerne Wine Club - Tuscany (Scenic Loop Cafe, San Antonio, TX): A rather roasted pruney nose, with currants and dark fruits. Acidic and incredibly tannic, with the palate turning austere in a medium finish. Good fruit underneath, though difficult to assess now. Needs time.
