FRUIT BOMB! Beautiful intensely dark/opaque color. First impression is incredible fruit and sweetness unexpected for this cellar aged wine with 16+% alcohol- almost port-like! Dark fruits dance on the palette forever. Tannins are gone- no decant needed at this point. Glad I cellared this for a while - not disappointed with grilled lamb chops. In no way seems over the hill yet. Wish I had more.

Excellent bottle with a great QPR. Full-bodied blackberry with a sweet touch but still with a wonderful harmony. A hint of oak is coming through but still well-integrated into the wine..

2 hour decant. Deep purple. Not for the faint of heart, this big boy featured sweet plums, figs, viscous black cherry nectar, mocha, a pinch of nutmeg and a whiff of smoke. A hearty pot roast was its worthy companion. A lot of bang for the buck ($28.).

Even better as this wine matures. I love syrah from the White Hawk vineyard and this is no exception. An extremely well made wine that is a pleasure to drink and a great QPR. Had the chance to meet Russell two weeks ago and he is free spririt who is a joy to hang out with.

Decanted two hours, then followed over the next three. This wine displays long legs on the glass, with a darkening purple color at the rim and a black core. An intoxicating bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, embers, and dry earth are apparent. The palate shows black raspberries, licorice, tobacco leaf, herbs, and fruity pebbles. Opulent and full-bodied, with remarkable density, balance, and freshness, this is a delicious wine.

Popped & poured at local restaurant. Really dark color, with a pleasing, spicy nose. Black cherries, plums & some meatiness on the palate...just a nice wine.

Decanted for an hour. Very dark color. Nose of plums, pepper and black cherries. Palate dominated by black fruit & a long, peppery finish. Really good stuff. Smooth transition, great mouthfeel.

Popped & poured. Beautiful nose with cinnamon highlights...almost like apple pie crust. Nice on the palate as well, with crushed raspberries, blackberries, cinnamon & pepper notes. Just a great tasting wine.

An incredibly ripe syrah made in a style that I like a lot. Certainly a great qpr thats for sure. Happy that I joined the wine club to be sure I get upcoming releases. I've always avoided wine clubs but not this one.

Popped & poured. Surprisingly open on the nose, with black fruits and plums coming through. Very concentrated flavors on the palate. Packed full of black fruit and spice. Good finish. Got better with air. Really nice bottle.

Curious and interesting Syrah with garnet color and scents of spice and black fruit peppered jam. Black olive scented blackberry, wild berry and black plum intertwined together against a background that hints of dried herb and bay leaf. The finish is rather simple, with drying tastes reflecting leather and hot stone. This wine will probably benefit from short term cellaring. Barrel 27 tasting room - Paso Robles Harvest Festival.

Last bottle drunk 8 years ago. Dark, inky purple. Fine tannins, fruit forward, long finish. Really enjoyable wine.

Magnificent!! Bold fruit. Great balance. Excellent from front to back. 08 seems to still be the best vintage Russell has done

Great stuff. Gave it a half hour in the glass and it seemed to come together just a bit better than initially popped. Full throttle syrah.
