This was seriously impressive. Incredible green melon and peach (no citrus), with some faint notes of blackberry. In the background, there’s a lot of sweet-but-not-cloying honey. Very vibrant, and the acid is there, though you kind of need to think about it to notice. The purity of the fruit and the honey is fantastic, and this absolutely exhibits that prum thing of being weightless and full bodied at the same. Although there’s nothing remotely tertiary, I think the wine is in a great spot at the moment.

I'm surprised by MFW review declaring this wine as one to drink young. The bottle I drank tonight had signs of minor seepage and a slightly protruding cork so I set my expectations low. To my surprise, it opened lemony and primary. I put it in a decanter to loosen it up and it slowly tilted more savory until it was like a barely caramelized piece of tropical fruit. The mouthfeel remained light and airy throughout. I think this could be really special in another 5 years or so as its savory side gets a chance to express itself.

Sunday round 2 (Chicago, IL): Surprisingly light for the vintage, with very good lift and a very easygoing disposition. Also, this is nowhere as sweet as I would have expected it to be. This doesn't have as much intense minerality as I might expect, though you do see some of it on the back end in the form of a chewy texture. Obviously very young now and still mostly primary.

Maturing nicely with balanced lemon/lime, peach/apricot, tropical fruit and hints of wet stone/petrol. Slightly sweeter than I expected for a kabinett but nicely balanced. Enjoy over the next 5 years.

Golden straw. Somewhat viscous and a bit oily. There’s acid backbone and a suggestion of savory pit behind the deep yellow fruit — yet the overall sensation leans toward sweetness. Highly enjoyable in small pours over five nights.

Mhmm... Lovely sweetness, fresh fruit, complex minerality and nicely balanced acidity. Petrolium, apricots, pear and honey all melts together beautifully. First wine (but definitely not the last) I taste from this producer. Smelling this wine I can clearly understand why Jon. Jos. Prüm is on almost every winelist at restaurants. This is pretty darn good riesling. If I was to sum up, in one glass, everything I love about Riesling and sweet white wine in general this wine would be high on my list. Hurry buy!

Some great wines with the boy Scouts - Year 2 (BSA Fundraiser): Having been at Prum a few weeks ago, this brought back great memories. Still, I think it was this good. Light gold in color. Just a bit of petrol (no sulfur) on the nose. Also some grapefruit and a bit of minerals and salinity. On the palate, this is slightly sweet but with more than enough acidity to counter balance it. Slightly oily texture. More viscous than expected. Nice finish. My only regret was I should have taken some for the beet salad later in the meal. It would have been perfect. Thanks David.

Riesling Rampage 2017: AP #19 14. Lemon, mineral, orange and musk. Really pure fruit on the palate, the sugar blends in well and allows the delicate side of the wine to shine. Still has plenty of detail and depth. Delicious but patience will be well rewarded.

Ordered 3 bottles for 8 people at a Thai restaurant, and they all showed similarly. Not exactly shut down, but definitely needs a lot of air, which none of the bottles got. Trademark Prum sulfur for the first 20 minutes, then shows classic GH limey pineapple and spice. Gently sweet, decent acidity but not racy, slender frame, not super complex or mineral/slatey, drinks clean, works wonderfully with the food, where the sugar and spice pick and amplify the Thai flavors. Goes down easy. I could drink gallons of this.

Faint straw color. Wet rocks, fresh citrus, petrol, floral nose. Lemon, pear, honeysuckle, a bit of petrol. There is a light sweetness, but the acidic zip keeps it fairly taut. Coravin 9/2/14: Light-medium yellow color; nose has some tropical fruit, some minerals, lemon-lime, slight petrol, only slight sulfur; palate is off-dry, good acid throughout, lemon-lime continues, medium persistence through early palate but fades a tad through midpalate, slight bitterness through midpalate; medium length finish. Refreshing, good value, but lacks a bit of depth and a core that would help it age. Nice to enjoy now. 89

Coravin 7/2/14: Light yellow-golden color; nose with some lemon-lime, some slate and minerals, petrol with swirling, slight sulfur at first that blows off; palate is light bodied, just slightly off-dry, good effervescent acidity at first that integrates nicely through the palate, slight petrol, fading flavors toward the end; finish is short-medium with tapering flavors. Acceptable overall, perhaps still slightly young, but doesn't necessarily seem like it has the depth to be a great riesling. Still good value for the discounted price ($23) and enjoyable. 88-89

9 pabv; AP 2 576 511 26 10. Cellars International, Carlsbad, CA. $24.95/750 ml, from JJ Buckley, served at Wednesday night evening prayer at Trinity.
The pale yet optically dense wine is under cork. The chord of grapefruit, grapefruit rind, and petrol is underlain by a powerful melange of fruit salad, of fine depth, definition, and complexity. The only problem is that the sensations on the nose keep bumping into each other so vigorously that it's impossible to note them in the time available; your taster may be deft enough to deal with it. Plenty of smoky slate ties this all up.
The wine is vivid and quite dry with green acidity, showing a powerful hit of skin tannin, juicy and clean. This wine is actually long in cleanliness,
Needs 2 or 3 years to allow the somewhat raspy structure to tone down, but all is as it should be. A superb Kabinett. Drink by 2022.

It all started with the nose. Fragrant honeysuckle and apple envelope the senses. On the palate, a harmony of crisp stone & full-bodied apple lingers on and on... Wonderful change of pace from a typically sweet riesling with little finish.

took a couple of hours of air in the decanter to really open up and show what it had to offer. nose of saline minerals, mint, and stone behind a prominent array of white flowers, fuji apple, and stone fruit. the palate shows sweet apple, peach, and flowers with acid to balance out the fruit and sugar. great with penang curry.

NOSE: soft Play-Doh; low to medium-low amount of petrol; good, but somewhat simple, a touch powdery.
BODY: very light pale yellow color of shallow depth; some spritz; medium-light to medium bodied.
TASTE: rich; sweet; medium-low acidity; I might call this a Spatlese if I was tasting this blind; lots of mineral; pear; hint of petrol; fruit is somewhat diffuse; 9% is not noticeable; a few hours in and the sweetness seems to have backed-off a bit; doesn’t strike me as complex or packed.

Non-blind. Decanted 1 hrs, drunk over 6 hrs. Elegant, broad, fine-tuned Mosel darling with honey suckle, honey and hints of emerging petrochemistry. Balance between the Riesling fruit and acids is breath taking and you want MORE. A most elegant somersault in the finish. This is an amazing wine. Managed to secure a further 3 bottles. Will try to keep my hands off of them for ~10 years. Spanish theme (this bottle from Northern Spain) wine dinner @ home with very good friends.

Slow ox'ed for about an hour. Very aromatic on the nose, which is floral - it also offers tropical aromas mixed in with some minerals and grated zest. Accompanying this on palate is peach, wild honey, just-ripe tangy apple and a hint of sulphur. There is also a subtle herbal streak which adds interest. A touch of CO2 provides zip and zing on the relatively round palate and minerally acids also help add structure. There is good intensity here, particularly for this level. A very pure wine for the vintage.

Light straw. Not as much orchard fruit as the 09 JJ Prum Bernkastleter Badstude Kabinett tasted a couple of weeks ago. The Graacher gave off plenty of zesty pink grapefuit, was very floral, and showed tropical fruits (especially passionfuit) as it warmed in the glass. Nice intensity, length and structure on the palate revealing its potential. Great stuff.

Light gold in the glass. Delicately fruity with perfumes reminiscent of citrus zest, pink grapefruit, peach and white flowers. This has good aromatic intensity that is run through by an appealing mineral vein. Fresh like air and very pure, shows weight but stays light and zesty in true Kabinet style. Rebuy: yes.

Pop and pour. Wanted to check this out early in life and was not disappointed. Wow. A full, vibrant bouquet of white flowers, granny smith apple, pear, with some more tropical fruit notes like mango and pineapple sneaking in. Mineral undertones wrap this up very nicely. On the palate, this has suprising weight for a Kabinett level (possibly "declasified" Spatlese?) This has fantastic purity of fruit, a touch of residual sugar and zinging acidity that keeps it bright and a perfect pairing with a wide range of foods - we enjoyed it with some lime chicken and carrot-apple salad this evening. Nice long finish with great depth and complexity. I need to taste more of the wines, but if this is indicative of the 2009 vintage in Germany, I will be stocking up!

Lovely light color and there is already a hint of petrol among the fresh apple and elderflower taste. Will keep a couple of these in the cellar for many years to come

2007 and 2009 Joh. Jos. Prums (PJ Wines, New York City): Airy, high aicid, steely; slight bitterness, in a not unpleasant way. Great tension. Filigree texture.

Rebuy: yes.

Very light gloden colour. Powerful nose of ripe fruit, apples, flowers and some honey. Medium weight, silky texture, lots of blossom, apples and tropical fruit. The finish is focussed awash with minerality, nice and long. Really thirst quenching and difficult to put down.
