Beautiful wine and fully mature now with enough power for another year or two. In the bouquet some pleasant barnyard. For the rest earthy impressions, some caramel, pepper and cinnamon and a long finish. Really offering great drinking at the moment.
Opening up a bit from yhe last bottle. Blackcurrantleaf and pencil lead nose, a little more sweet druit on the palate than previously. Still a 'classic' dry calret, but has rounded out and shows nice balance now. Fresh, tasty and reasonablt moreish. ***
Lovely cedar and blackcurrant leaf nose. Quite compact and a little on the lean side. Entry lacks ripe fruit and the profile remains constant through the middle to the medium finish. Unremarkable but typical of its level in a less generous vintage. Decant an hour and drink with food. Fair enough 'luncheon claret'. **1/2
Beautiful mature bouquet with oak an red fruits, but not so very expressive. Cassis, oak, some cigar and good juicy bitterness on the palate. Medium long finish. Now mature, but no real hurry. Nice wine, but less great than a few years ago.
Deep dark red center, red rim with some signs of aging, relatively low viscosity. Very inviting nose of cassis, minerals and smokey fruit, blackberries and dark plums, age not evident on nose. Smooth, plums, blackcurrant and blackberries, white chocolate, restrained acidity in middle with very faint vegetal tones, mature tannins, then smokey fruit finish, great balance and length, age a little more evident. Excellent bordeaux. Drinking very well now, but will last a couple more years.
Dark red with some slight brickening at rims.Earthiness, cassis and oak on the nose.On the palate medium dark fruit/cassis,oak and dominant pencil lead as well as some slightly austere herbaceousness.Tannins nicely integrated.Seemed to soften and get more balanced with couple of hours airing.Overall a very decent claret that seemes to have some years left, though it is very near its peak now.
At first there was a strong green pepper component, but after about an hour the wine opened up and came into balance. Still had good fruit, strong cab characteristics, the tannins were integrated. I'd say the wine was at its peak. Overall a very good example of a value Bordeaux that had some aging potential.
Colour still quite full; classic nose of cedar and muted blackcurrant. This is still a little on the young side but it showing typical profile of blackcurrant fruit balanced by good acidity and tannin. Nose gave a slightly sweaty character initially, but this blew off. Hardly a star, but very much in line with expectations for the property and this will develop in to a decent 'luncheon claret' over the next three or four years. Enjoyable. **1/2
Drank from a magnum. Carmine. A beautiful complex bouquet with good wood, slightly cassis, cigar box and iodine. In the taste full and thick with liquorice, coffee, and a lot more. And outstanding wine! Can last for many more years.
Dark purple colour, only the slightest bricking at the rim. The scent is very classic with cigarbox, cassis, lead, a little bit of unsweetened chocolate and herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, very fruity (like so many other '99s I've recently had) but with high, as of yet unresolved, tannins, delectable acidity. The aftertaste is long, fresh and lovely. To sum it up: it tastes like claret! Ideally should have a little more age (three years maybe?). Very good.
