I bought a bunch of these and sort of forgot about them. Every time I return back with low expectations and every time I come away impressed. Very well made, clearly Californian syrah, that touches a lot of pleasure sensors for drinkers. Stylistically, it's big and a bit soft, but the fruit is really nice and some secondary savory flavors have developed. I don't know if the QPR is a winner, but they are nice, well made wines.

Excellent Syrah from a great producer. Wonderful nose of dust, pencil shaving, earth. Bordeaux on the nose essentially. Dark fruit, expressive notes of cocoa and lavender.

Happy Accident. I have a few vintages of this one, and they don't make it anymore. Sadly. But I pulled the '08 and not the '05 I had planned. But it's lovely. Though youngish. Great nose of spice and bacon fat. Rich fruit on the palette. Great wine, drink now, but save it for 5 years if you want. It's all good.

Nice showing from Red Car. Notes of violets and bitter chocolate on the nose. Starts more acidic but after 1.5 hours opens a touch to nice dark red berry fruit on the tongue. Light finish.

Still singing. But glad I am having this before it turns downhill. Tannins softening, but still with lots of power. Blueberry, cedar, violets ... Still jammy.

Red Car Wine Dinner (Ripple - Cleveland Park - Washington, DC): Nose shows blueberries, plum sauce, violets and milk chocolate. Richer than all the other wines, with blueberry, bold coffee, vanilla and black pepper-soy sauce. Full, bold, but clearly well-made with a lot of concentration. Time ahead. As a boxing fan, I gotta love the label.

Cedar, tobacco, blackberry, blueberry, smoke. Firm and gripping tannins. A lot of structure, and plenty left in the tank. Wonderful accompaniment to roasted meat on a cold winter evening.

Typical cali Syrah flavors, smooth and lush, meaty. A little flat in the mid palate, medium finish. Decanted 2 hrs, try more next bottle.
