Very nice tawny Port. Always enjoyable. I do prefer the 20 year old but that costs twice the price. The 10 year old has an excellent QPR. Highly recommend this wine.

tawny/garnet colour and medium body. subtle spices, caramel and nuts mingle with rich cherry, apricot and fig aromas. some layers in the mouth as the fruit has a macerated feel interspersed by herbal and spice touches. the sweetness is adequately balanced by a corresponding acidity and there is moderately good length.

WSET2 Course Notes; 10/22/2023-11/5/2023 (WineHouse, Los Angeles): Appearance: Medium tawny. Nose: Roasted coffee, toffee, dates. Allspice and mint are there as well for some reason. Orange peel, maybe. Palate: Medium acidity, low tannin. Full body. Sweet, of course. 8/18. I have tried this wine before, my notes are slightly different but impression is the same.

A little sharp. Lots of flavors, but not the most focused--not done any favors by comparison to the 20 or 30. Would be perfectly pleasant on its own, but not a standout

Colour: medium ruby to garnet. Nose: dates, sugared blackberries, marmalade, fruit flowers, maybe sugared dried oranges. Taste: sweet and low on tannin. Good on acid as it tries to balance the sweetness. Of course, the dates. 8/18

Med+ intensity, burnt sugar, caramelized almond, vanilla, macerated black cherries, toasted almond, toast, black sugar. High alcohol, med-sweet, med acid, med+ body, long finish. The burnt and slightly bitter flavors take away from the sweetness. Good long finish with plenty of oxidative notes. Not overly complex and almost a little thin for a dessert wine, but still a solid port. Not amazing but not bad either. Alcohol is a little hot/abrasive, definitely feel it in the palette and going down. 20yr NV was in a much better spot.

Drinking very well indeed. Very attractive Tawny Port with all the sweet dark cherry and plum flavours summarised in previous notes from me and from others. Creamy vanilla and complexity with chocolate and hints of coffee on the end palate. Reliable and pretty good for the price (although this seems to be steadily rising). (Bottled in 2021)

Decanted overnight. Nice simple Tawny with notes of cherry, red berries, plum, spice and some chocolate. Not as sweet as the Grahams or Fonseca 10 year.

Restaurant purchase. Raisiny dried fruit, mascharino cherry, chocolate on the nose. Fruit a bit fresher on the palette. Chocolate still there. Alcohol well intergrated. Finish a bit abrupt. Simple but pretty good value.

Classic producer and a wine that's available almost everywhere. Shocked that I have never reviewed this.
Cherries, raspberries, dark chocolate, black licorice, dried herbs, sarsaparilla, cola. A subtle hint of red pepper in the background. Medium sweet with medium tannins, full body and a medium finish.

Purchased for $30. Dark clear tawny in color. I'm actually kinda shocked how simple this is. In a disappointed way. I was expecting a lot more from Taylor. Sweet burnt caramel, butterscotch and nuts on the nose. Similar notes on the palate. The finish is incredibly short. Dow is much better for the same price. Vallado is heads and shoulders above both. There's better for the price. Grade: B

From a 50mL miniature purchased in Porto - not sure how well stored it was stored in the shop. Nice tawny-red colour. On the nose, aromas of fruit (plum/prunes) as well as oxidative notes of nuts etc. On the palate, the attack is frank, alcohol, cherry/plum type fruits and nuts/oxidative notes finishing on an ample smokiness. A good length.
Compared to the Graham's 10 yo, this is more oxidised, the fruit is less fresh and the alcohol less apparent. Slightly lower acidity? As such, for the 10 yo at least, I am slightly less a fan than for the Graham's, but that is partially because I am not too much of a tawny fan. Storage may have been an issue (though oxidative wines are quite resistant). That being said, the difference is not huge and I'd happily taste this one again as I would the Graham's. 87-88 or so.

Bottled 2021. Consistent taste from previous bottlings. Cherry, not very sweet, alcohol reasonably integrated, long aftertaste. The Taylor 10 Year Old Tawny has a style placing it between a ruby and an old tawny. I always enjoy it for its freshness combined with the tawny notes. When I want a more tawny/colheita type I drink the Burmester 10 Years Old Tawny.

Bottled in 2012. Shows a lot of aromatic lift and vitality for an older bottle. Plenty of spices and autolytic character to the ripe and dried fruit flavors. Nice cut, length and sweetness too. Finishes warm and persistent.

All for Rice, Rice for All; 4/16/2021-4/18/2021 (Alicante - España): This bottle was opened when Flanders was Spanish. Served in a glass of cognac (!). Melted caramel on the nose, slightly laminated with notes of sour cream and roasted nuts and sandalwood. Extraordinary complexity for what it is and how it was preserved. On the palate it is less harmonious and more direct, more alcoholic.Sweetness is nothing but a shadow. Moderate length and shallow depth although it perfectly fulfills its role.

As expected, full of rich, sweet cherry fruit with spicy notes. The woody character seemed just a little less soft and subtle than usual but the wine was still smooth, complex, and a reminder to drink more Port. Next day, the woody character had softened leaving the sweet, complex, cherry and raisin fruit. 5 Days after opening it was softer and smoother with even more attractive sweet, spicy fruit totally integrated with the soft vanilla. 90+

A really nice 10 year tawny. Starts out with a nice nose with raisin, cherry and apricot, raspberry and plum. Similar flavors with licorice and fig added. Long smooth finish. The fruit hides the alcohol well.

The port was clear with medium intensity. The color was medium garnet ruby at the core with a pale garnet at the rim. The viscosity was high. The port was healthy with a medium/low intensity. Aromas of raisin, cherry and dried apricot were observed. The port was demi sec with medium acidity and tannin. The flavours tasted were of early season cherries, vanilla and raisins It had a medium body and finish with high alcohol . This was good value for the price. It is a drink now port but could last a few more years in the bottle. It is easy drinking and smooth and very flavourful. It would pair well with some dark chocolate or creme caramel. It would also pair well with some old cheddar.

Tried side by side with the 20 year. The 20 year is clearly the better wine, with a more nuanced flavor profile, but the 10 year is a nice sipper at less than half the price. Given how infrequently I drink tawny, for me the 20 year is worth it, but the 10 year certain presents a better QPR.

The most elegant of the Tawny's I tried on the Portugal trip. Nutty with some aniseed and licorice late. Nothing particularly special but quite like-able. As always great value at 11e for a half.

Tasting at Taylor-Fladgate (Taylor-Fladgate, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal): A very decent 10 year tawny. This had a pleasant enough nose, with a hint of walnuts and violets, some truffle honey, and just that but of earthiness. Quite a pretty bouquet. The palate came across rather more red fruited than the nose, with dried cherries and red currants, and then the typical dried figs, and more woody and walnutty accents of a tawny port. A little tang of acidity than carried it into a rather salty, almost saline finish infused with a whole lot of spice. Quite a bit of length there I thought. Not the most complex of wines, but this was decently good for a 10 year tawny.

Enofusión 2019; 1/28/2019-1/30/2019 (IFEMA - Madrid): Monotonous. Bored. Unidirectional. Never my favourite 10 yo. Brown-like colour with orange edges. Aromas of pastry shop and dried yet candied fruit lacking sings of elegance. As always on the palate showed a little unbalanced, alcoholic and scratch in the tongue because its sour and sweet character. Definitively it is not made for me.

Garnet with a tawny hue in color. Nose of raisins, autumnal spices, and marzipan. Tastes of orange peel, almonds, nutmeg, and hint of raisins. Drinking well, and a nice accompaniment with salty nuts or blue vine cheese, but not at the top of Taylor’s lineup. Drink now.

Medium tawny in colour (a beautiful peachy-brown) with aromas of molasses, smoke, and cherry cough syrup. Full-bodied with low tannins, this was very sweet (as one would expect) and reminded me of the syrup inside of a liqueur chocolate you might eat at Christmas. On the palate were molasses, licorice all-sorts, and cherry cough syrup. There was a dominant taste of raisins on the long finish. This was warm in the throat.
Certainly not my favourite but I can see its appeal. Next time I need to pair it with a sweet dessert.

Such a dependably consistent Port. Plenty of tamarind, orange peel, and spice on the nose, a bit nutty too, which gives this tasty depth and complexity. It's so smooth yet so potent, and the sweetness is balanced by an ample amount of acidity. Just an all around lovely 10 Year Tawny.

This is a wonderful tawny with a bright tawny core, almost ruby. Sings of fruits showcasing the oak it was in. Served it chilled 57degf and with home made creme brulee.
Edit: after a while this has developed dried raisins and almond on the nose. On the palette it's gained a lot more nuts; almonds walnuts, some cashew.

Crimson/purple core to amber rim. Quite a strong alcohol overtone on the nose, but some nice sweetness buried underneath. Unpleasant bite up front on the palate followed by some nice cabernet fruit. Typical almond/caramel flavors of a tawny port. Sadly, spoiled by over-domineering alcohol, but not terrible. Good value, but I'd give the 20-year-old a try next time.

Singapore Airlines - Business & Lounges; 10/9/2016-10/12/2016 (Sydney, Singapore, Frankfurt): Bright ruby red. Certainly doesn’t look tawny. Cold tea aromas. Not terribly sweet nor rich on the palate. Decent aged rancio character, moderate acid, with flavours of cold tea and caramel. Medium/full-body, acidic, and rather too much on the front of the tongue. The finish is more heat than flavour. Meh.

Pretty good. In the spirit of chocolate-covered cherries or raisinets. Very prune-y. Somewhat dense and unresolved. For me, this is clearly inferior to the Taylor 20yo. I'm not sure that 40yo tawnies are better than 30yo tawnies or that 30yo tawnies are better than 20yo tawnies, but I'm pretty sure that 20yo tawnies are better than 10yo tawnies.

In my last tasting note to this wine I wrote "Tawny doesn´t improve in the bottle". But it does improve in an opened bottle. A lot more density and structure after two months in a half filled bottle. Maybe because some of the alcohol evaporated? Dunno.

After 6 years in my cellar this bottling from 2010 is now tender and mellow and medium bodied. It has medium sweetness and still a good, juicy finish. Previous bottles - drunk between 2011 - 2014- had been a little bit more sweet, fuller bodied. Still a good port but should be drunk soon. (Tawny doesn´t improve in the bottle.)

“Fortified Wines of the World” (blind), Wine 4: The wine was medium garnet in colour and offered raisins, nuts, leather, tobacco, spices and mushroom on the nose. Consistent with previous tasting notes from 2014 and 2015. Hazy, brick tawny in color, this Port showed raisin, dried red fruits and allspice on the nose. The mouth feel brought a semi-sweet dried black fruits tone along with just enough heat from the alcohol to keep everything in moderation. The finish had length, with the heat fading away and the raisin notes coming back.

The color of this bottle surprised me, as it wasn't all that 'tawny compared to others'. Very nice raspberry nose, but not overly strong. There wasn't much heat, and the juicy table grapes/raspberry upfront was well-mixed with dried dark fruit and consistent from the start through the moderate length

Holy alcohol. It tastes like straight vodka on the front. At the end some shortbread cookie leaks through. I just don't get why they make these ports so high in alcohol, because I think the fruit would be interesting if it was more accessible.

Comparing this to the Graham 10yr tawny I had last night... Clear, medium amber. Nose is developed but rather reticent... less intense, alcoholic, and overly sweet than the Graham. Nose of dried bing cherry, strawberries, orange, and spice. Flavors on palate are red-fruit driven. Palate is medium (drier than most 10 year tawnies, certainly drier than Graham), medium+ acid and alcohol (better integrated than Graham which was a bit hot), medium- tannin, med body, intensity, and finish. Finish is a bit nuttier and much drier than Graham.
Overall, I found the Graham to be more interesting and complex but the Taylor more focused. I'd probably prefer the Taylor as an aperitif before a meal (on account of the dryness) but the Graham as a nightcap. At $34 vs $29 for the Graham, I think this is a bit overpriced.

Very interesting bouqet with ripe rasberries, of course alcohol, but also very smokey, almost salty (wierd)some cedar box. I guess this is close to what grilled figs and plums, wrapped in bacon smells like. Balanced, with good amount of accidity. very lively. Good fruitiness, almost freshness, but also jam of figs, plums, and rasberries. Nice finish, with cedar and chocolate covered Plu, fig marmelade, with a touch of smokiness. Not too alcoholic. Good lenght. 91

A very good example of a 10 year tawny. A little lighter than other tawny's I've sampled, but has the colors expected for a tawny. The nose is a very delightful caramel, nutty, toasty with a sweet tobacco aroma...again all the things you would expect from a 10y tawny. These aromas carry straight through to the flavor with a slight sweet caramel and nutty taste with a hint of a date flavor. Full bodied with smooth texture and a very nice long finish. Overall very well balanced and would certainly buy again.
Note: This Tasting Note was based on the last of a bottle that had been opened and placed back in my wine fridge for 2-3 weeks.

Bottled 2014. Lush aromas of dates, tamarind, bread pudding, baked oranges, and orange peel. Rich, smooth, clean, and balanced. Lots of elegant spices lifted by nutty and figgy sweetness. Toggles between power and finesse, picking up traction on the long finish. All class.

Clear and bright with a beautiful pale tawny colour and dense slow-falling legs. The nose is clean and fully developed, showing medium intensity aromas of candied cherries, prunes, sultana, caramel, cedar, chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, dried figs and walnuts. The wine is sweet with a medium acidity, low soft tannins, medium alcohol, medium+ body and pronounced intensity flavours of caramel, dried figs, sultana, chocolate, candied cherries, walnuts and cinnamon. Medium+ finish.
It is an outstanding quality wine with a great complexity provided by a wide range of maturation aromas, a very good flavour concentration, which balance also the alcohol, and is showing a clear typicity of this style of Port. Drink now, not suitable for ageing since the wine is already fully developed, it will not improve in the bottle and this style can deteriorate if kept for too much time.

Surprisingly dark brick red color with pronounced copper hue - you can see that this is still relatively young a Port. Surprisingly fresh and youthful nose: pronounced notes of dusty chocolate shavings, fruity hints of raisins, red fruits, some cocktail cherry and a little dried fruit character of figs and dates. Elegant and delicate on the palate with sweet flavors of raisins, figs, complex spices, some cocoa, a little roasted nuts and underlying hints of juicy red berries and tangerine-driven citrus fruits. Full-bodied and quite hot mouthfeel, but with good, balancing acidity giving the wine a nice, harmonious touch. Hot, long and complex finish with rich, sweet and juicy fruit flavors, oxidative nuttiness, spicy wood hints, caramel, ripe citrus fruits, some raisins, a little chocolate and a touch of christmas spice.
Stylistically still a youthful tawny port, evident in the rather dark color and fruity tones, but still lightyears ahead of many inexpensive basic Tawnies. A harmonious dessert on its own, but a versatile sweet wine with many cheeses and desserts as well. Good value at 27,90€.

Every time I open a bottle of Port, I think "I do not drink enough Port." This was an older bottle of ten year tawny that we opened for friends who were over for dinner for the first time. Raisin and allspice a-go-go here with a bit of heat. All that and more on the palate (some mocha on the finish?). Yup, need to get me some more port.... Totally pleasant, but as tawny ports go, this one tends towards the "ruby" side. Medium length, medium intensity, and only some of the nuances that I associate with tawnies. Not bad, but not one that I would seek out.
Note that this bottle was purchased about 3 years ago and stored at about 12C until drinking.

Red-auburn color of medium to medium-deep depth. Nose was moderate expressive, and quite fruity – raisins. Medium bodied on the palate: straightforward and accessible; flavors of golden raisins and moderate tawniness; hint of lemony acidity; a very good 10yr. – hard to decide between this and the Graham’s 10 yr. as runner-up to Niepoort’s as my favorite 10 yr Tawny on this trip.

Clear, pale tawny, with a clean nose of medium intensity and hints of toffee, nutmeg, cloves, menthol, and orange liqueur. This port is off-dry with medium acidity, low tannins, and a medium-plus body with flavors of pepper, cloves, cinnamon, dried figs and dates, and orange liqueur. The finish is of medium-plus length and this rates as a good wine.

Pale garnet in color, with fairly viscous legs. The nose is still strong with alcohol, but has pleasant, medium plus intesity aromos of red cherries and raisins. The nose is deliberately oxidized. The palate is sweet, with medium acidity and flavors of cherry pie and sweet spices. Fortified, 20% alcohol. The body, flavor intensity and length are all medium plus. This wine should be drunk now, as it is not intended for further ageing. This is a good example of its genre and is a pretty good example of its genre at $26.00 at Specs.

Quite a transparent ruby red with a little light bricking. Quite elegant and light, the alcohol is restrained and the fruit round and smooth. Enjoyable with ripe but not too sweet raisined, plummy fruit and a little nuttiness on the finish. Very easy to drink and enjoyable.

Retailer tasting, quick notes. Red berries and spice on the nose. Palate is dominated by walnuts, as well as some maple syrup and spice. Medium body, well balanced with a smooth finish.

Un porto 10 ans qui a fait 11 ans de bouteille. Il ressemble donc davantage à un 20 ans mais sans la présence marquée de caramel qu'un 10 ans supplémentaire en barrique lui aurait donné.
Beaucoup de dépôts.

Surprisingly light in color. Very light on the palate as well. I thought this might be off, so I checked a second bottle. Lots of cream, caramel, and vanilla here with a touch of oak and spice. Medium-length finish.

The taste of this reminded me almost exactly of peanut butter and jelly. It had way more of the "grape jelly" component but must have gained a bit of the nut flavor from being aged in oak for 10 years.

30 min open. Very light orangish brown, about 30% opaque. Nose is rather shy but smells of pancake syrup, raisins, white chocolate. Lighter in nature with delayed sweetness through a hot mouthfeel. Kind of strange how long it takes to attack the palate and there's something a little poopy on the finish, which might go away tomorrow. Maybe a decent pumpkin pie match for this weekend. Really solid 10 year tawny. A bit hot for me. Rather austere upon opening. Generally, I prefer the Graham's for its richness and sweetness. This is more restrained, medium weight, and has additional complexity. It smoothed out on night 2 and thereafter, and has just been a pleasure to drink. Its really a toss up between this and Graham's for my favorite 10 year, but most nights I still think I would choose the Graham's.

A nice after dinner nutty sipping wine that is a dry tawny port with hint of sweetness. Would go well with desserts like nut tortes, pecan pie, traditional bread pudding because of its nutty aroma. AROMAS: roasted nuts, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves or allspice, cocoa powder, black cherry liquer; FLAVORS: matches aromas, the aromas are nuttier than the taste, taste is more raisinated. STRUCTURE: semi-dry/off-dry, low acid, high alcohol (20%), finish lingers so it's long.

Drank through a month. Typical for a 10-year tawny with no major flaws. I'd use this for a 10yr measure, as it is neither great nor deficient of the par requisites. Entirely adequate for the job, and quite enjoyable.

Consistency all over the place with this bottle. Day one way to hot, needed to breath. Alcohol died off by next day, however it was still out of balance. About 2 weeks in this was showing really good, but then faded after another week with a nutty and somewhat bitter finish.

I've had this bottle open for two days now. I was hoping a little air would help this wine open up a bit. But I guess that was really just wishful thinking. Medium, reddish, copper color with a thin consistency. Nose of figs and a faint raisiny sweetness. Flavors up front are of a nuttiness at first, but then very quickly fades to almost a watery blandness. Very thin and simple for a tawny port. Unimpressive, but, likewise, not offensive either.

Outstanding port which is very familiar to me from multiple previous bottles, this one enjoyed earlier this evening with Kim and our dinner club as dessert wine with rich chocolate cake after great broiled beef tenderloing tip dinner. An outstanding entry-level tawny port, great buy for the price, great QPR. Rich but not cloyingly sweet, great bouquet with flavors of figs, prunes, raisins, cherry, maple, caramel and some toffee with a full bodied mid-palate and pleasant afer taste. Highly recommend this for lovers of tawny port.

Outstanding port which is very familiar to me from multiple previous bottles, this one enjoyed earlier this evening with Kim at a tapas and paired wines wine tasting dinner at Arpa restaurant in downtown Charlotte NC paired with dessert of idiazabal cheese. Agree w/ previous tasting notes - just an outstanding entry-level tawny port, great buy for the price. Rich but not cloyingly sweet, great bouquet after letting it open up, flavors of figs, prunes, raisins, cherry, maple, caramel and some toffee with a full bodied mid-palate and pleasant afer taste. Great QPR at this price point, definitely recommend this and look forward to future bottles.

I used some of this in a port reduction sauce and had a little as an after dinner finisher. Very nice nose with maple syrup overtones mixed with ripe cherry flavors on the palate that also shows a bit of nuttiness. I definitely prefer to drink this at cellar temp (about 58°) and enjoy it while it comes up to room temp. I have quite a bit left and will flesh out this note a bit more in the future as I work through this bottle.
Took a couple of weeks but I pretty much worked through the bottle at this point. This is a great Tawny for a nightly after dinner sip.

drank during several sittings over the past 6 months. today, we used in place of marsala to prepare veal, sun dried tomato. leek and artichoke with chicken stock to celebrate pat's 63rd birthday. i do not find the complex flavor profile described by others. mostly raisin and chocolate. it is remarkable that it does not oxidize after being open for so long. although not as complex as vintage port, it is a good example of a well made tawny and offered considerable pleasure.

Finishing it after 90 days eating stilton cheese with biscuits. It is a not very special one. Obviously I am prefering 20 yo, but even at this level, Fonseca and many others producers, are making better options. Because it is a digestive wine, nutty, full of figs aromas and woody (sexy one, sandal e.g.) are definitions for it. Rebuying? hmmm possibly-probably I will...not.
Tres meses en la nevera para un vino rico pero insuficiente al compararlo con los tawny 20 años. Aún así, rico en madera dulce, lleno de frutos secos, con olores de higos secos. Ideal para principiantes.

The nectar of the Gods. I've gone through four bottles in as many months. I drink a small glass of this almost every night as a quality of life measure. It's rich, sets up camp on your taste buds and has more facets than I can list here. Delicious, rich, sweet, magical. This has magic in every bottle. Takes me back to being in my grandparents house as a kid and smelling rich old wood. Not that this wine tastes like wood, I just have a strange scent memory.

I really enjoy this port and will definitely buy it again. It has a very aromatic sweet bourbon smell with notes of raisen and chocolate. I agree with the other reviewers that the taste also has notes of fig, in addition to the raisen and chocolate. Its texture is of a classic tawny port, syrupy but not overly so. Pairs perfectly with a chocolate desert.

Delicious once I discovered that it needed a large glass. In a small glass it was quite hot on the nose, literally stinging worse than even hard liquor. Raisins, caramel, nuts; a classic tawny port. Terriffic longevity, still drinking great after some 3+ months open. Would definitely buy again and/or recommend.

Fig and other dried and sweet fruits in the bouquet. In the taste currants, nuts, oak. Good and fairly complex sweetness. 10 years old can be very smoky and a bit alcoholic. This wine is neither of those. It has a more fruity style. The aftertaste is fairly long. Although it is not the pinnacle of complexity, this is a very good style imho.

The color is a dark red with some faint orange in it. A simple nose of carmel and nuts. The palate has some simple dried fruit and a light dose of spices. There still are some very noticable tannins in this young tawny. Unfortunately, it is quite simple on the palate. The finish is just a tad more than short, but not really meduim either (short/medium?). Overall, this is a very easy drinking 10 year tawny with no major faults, other than being on the simple side, and offers a decent QPR. This would be a good introduction for someone who has not had a lot of experience with Port.

A little hot until I realized I needed to cool down the bottle. When I did so, complexity emerged -- caramely, raisiny, figgy flavors and a much more pleasant, less alcoholic nose. Consumed with various snacks including figs and blue stilton (a great match) over a period of a month. I didn't think I'd be sad to finish this bottle, but now I'm wishing I had another. A gift from my father.

Elegant mouth feel with a little hotness to it. Seemed almost "deliate" for a port. Cherries and rasins as others have said, but not over the top like some other ports I've had recently. Really liked it, at least as much as the 20yr old Sandemans I've been drinking lately.

Santa Maria BBQ Night: Pulled this out for a port chaser at the end of the night. More agressive and upfront than I expect a tawny - in a good way. Nice grapey insides with nutty background. Very soft and not fully realized though. Enjoyable and a fair match for Northern Spy Apple Tarte Tatin w/ Jeni's Maker's Mark Pecan ice cream. Certainly will revisit the bottle over the upcoming weeks.

Red tawny.
Hint of rancio and pruney red fruit. High tone spirit with a little menthol.
Palate is sweet, pruney and flabby.
A heavy and dull wine. No refinement.
Disappointing.

Drink now.

On the palate were molasses, licorice all-sorts, and cherry cough syrup. There was a dominant taste of raisins on the long finish. This was warm in the throat.
Certainly not my favourite but I can see its appeal. Next time I need to pair it with a sweet dessert.

Purchased for $9US/3.0oz pour at Anton's Swan Bar in Lambertville, NJ, this Port was the ideal end to cold winter day.

Purchased in an attempt to find a cheaper alternative to 20 year tawny. While this is a good desert wine, it is no substitute for Taylor's 20 year. Oh well, just have to pay the price.

Bags of orange peel, cardamom, cloves on the nose. Liqorice and aniseed also comes through strongly on the palate. A little too much heat on the finish - like the alcohol is seperated from the wine - but very nice.

Desserts: Very attractive bourbon-laced spicecake aromas, then very straightforward delivery in the mouth that fails to complete the experience.

85 points.

Poured at a retailer tasting. Garnet color with a brown tint. Notes of toffee, rose petals, blueberry and brown sugar. The alcohol is noticeable as well. Viscous, with nutty caramel and brown sugar flavors leading to a fruit-dominated finish.

Purchased in Lisbon in 2004. Nose of alcohol, raisins, and caramel. Warm, squishy mouthfeel, with notes of butterscotch, dried cherries, peppermint, and apricots. I don't have enough experience with port to assign a rating, but it was definitely enjoyable and interesting.

Elegant mouth feel with a little hotness to it. Seemed almost "deliate" for a port. Cherries and rasins as others have said, but not over the top like some other ports I've had recently. Really liked it, at least as much as the 20yr old Sandemans I've been drinking lately.

Typical amber/red in color, sweet raisin nose and taste but not too sweet, long finish, a great 10 year tawny, I switch between this and the Grahams or Dows 10 years depending on which is on sale at the time.

Raisins on the nose, with a nutty taste on the palate. A very thin body means the high alcohol content leaves a really hot finish.

Another reviewer hit it on the head:
Great body and of course the usual raisins and cherries on both nose and palate. A hint of alcohol on the (long) finish but nothing that annoys - just enough for you to want to quench it with another sip.
I couldn't describe it better

Thanksgiving with pumpkin cheescake w/ bourbon pecan sauce. A sudden fruit explosion and dry finish. Very jammy, plummy. The dessert needed something more refined and elegant. First experience with a 10yo tawny. Good solid drink, but maybe stick to the 20yo.

Bottled 2005. Tawny-red in color, sweet fruit on nose. Sweet, but not cloying on the palate. Dense notes of dark berries and fig. Medium-full body, with well-balanced fruit, alcohol, and acidity. Long, mildly tart finish. Great dessert wine.
