Excellent wine. Notes of blueberry, blackberry, black tea, oak and earth. Great with our Giorgio pizza with pepperoni, pork sausage with fennel and genoa salami.

Very impressed with this wine. Dark, inky color but nice rounded red fruit to the tongue. Gentle earth textures as well. Solid finish. Need to get more of this.

Very bright, pure Pinot fruit--cranberry, pomegranate, cherry. Hints of sassafras and earth, good streak of acidity, subtle oak. Drank with blackened salmon.

This one needs some time to reach its potential. Decanted for about an hour. It definitely got better as i drank it. I'd recommend decanting for 2-3 hours. There is a little strawberry on the nose. Nice fruit on the palate. It has the structure you'd expect from a good pinot. Nice finish also.

Deep garnet colour. Nose was very reductive to start. With air got a bit better but still had some off smells including a metalic / metal shavings quality. Big California pinot palate that was fighting between a sour red fruit palate and a core of very ripe, sweet cherry and raspberry. Big acid, decent finish, smooth tannins. Not in balance for my palate and don't see this aging well. I'm a fan of California Pinot but this was my first Patz & Hall experience and not a great one.

this is an awesome straightforward california sonoma pinot. little hot, lots or bright cherry, raspberry and vanilla with very soft tannins and good acidity. paired with roasted Chilean sea bass and ratatouille, asparagus and roma tomatoes. was perfect. wonderfully approachable pinot from california but lacks the bready nose you get from Burgundy. That said, all around excellent display of pinot and completely approachable and drinkable. look forward to the next few bottles. crack and pour on this one.

Decanted and enjoyed at Fleming's. Big, deep flavors of cherry and blueberry. Balanced beautifully with acid and tannins. Velvety mouthfeel, smooth finish. This is a big wine. Structured well enough to age, but maybe too good to wait. Blew away the Sea Smoke we had before this. One of the better pinots I've had in a while.

Tasty Pinot and not for the faint of heart. It's rich with bright cherry flavors. There were layers of spices that were bold and almost too much. Enough tannins and acid to be age worthy.

Medium-full bodied magenta. Aromatically beautiful with rich strawberry, red raspberry, and fresh clean earth which translates brilliantly to the palate. Silky texture balanced nearly perfectly with acidity and just a touch of tannic grip.
A benchmark California Pinot Noir from and iconic pruducer. Highly recommended.
Patz & Hall Wines (Bloomington, MN): Nice effort overall with strawberry, minerals and spice. Good use of oak and drink now or cellar for a few years. More elegant in style.

Decanted 30 minutes. I needed a 1/2 bottle on labor day and whole foods was the only wine shop open. I figured was 07 good vinatge. It had some bottle age. I normally enjoy the profile of Sonoma Coast Pinots and the sign said dry and earthy. Not exactly what I was hoping to find. Wino Tim and BruceB nail it and are perhaps a tad kind. Over-priced and underdelivering.

Deep color and ripe aromas. Luscious feel but heavily extracted; still pleasant but bordering on a syrupy character. Lots of blueberries and cinnamon. Moderate finish.

Big red fruit and berries with graham cracker, vanilla and baking spices. Warm and hedonistic with smooth tannins and a lengthy finish. Lacking complexity and finesse.

A super-jammy, plush, forward style, with crushed strawberry, black plum and Marasca cherry aromas shaded with sweet new oak. Medium+ bodied, round, soft and seamless on the palate with warming alcohol and persistent fruit.

way better than I thought it would be based on disappointments with a few other Patz & Hall varietals; deep engaging nose with plenty of earth, and even a tiny hint of barnyard, sweetened with blackberry and dark cherry; rich dark fruit on the palate; mouth filling texture with smooth tannin; long fruit finish; will definitely buy more if I can find it at this price
