  • Nice nose, no fruit remaining, big wine with a brooding open that has a peppery falter in the mid palate and a puckered finish

  • Over the hill. Fruit is very muted, still a good balance of other vegetal and coffee flavors, though. Drink them if you are still holding.

  • Deep purple/red, compared to last bottle, more complexity on the nose, really nice meaty elements, black fruits and brambles but having to compete with strong smoky oak aromas - well balanced, good not great length, still some big tannins, if I had another bottle I would take a chance and keep it for another 3-5 yrs - tasty, well made syrah.

  • Lot's of sediment in this bottle. Decanted it was quite enjoyable.

  • After reading a TN from someone who just drank an 02 Morrison Lane, I figured it was high time to open one of my 2003's. Holy sh#t is all I can say. What a total slut of a wine. Deep, deep purple color with an aroma of fruit, fruit, fruit. Any hint of tannin is long gone and at 14%, not much heat from the alcohol either. It was a bit shy at first so I let it sit for about an hour and boy did it come to party after that. Blackberries, blueberries, black cherries, and other fruits just filled your mouth and made you smile. It doesn't take a Mensa member to enjoy this wine (not exactly thought provoking but damn was it good). Another hedonistic effort from Charles and I would expect nothing less! 92pts.

  • First bottle I have opened since release. Very distinct nose of black fruit, subtle oak, sweat and white pepper. Blackberries, pepper and smoked meat on the palate. Seems too hot. Full mouthfeel with a nice long finish. I believe this could use an extended sleep before we taste another.

  • Fruit forward...good mid palate but somethings missing...

  • Decanted for two hours. Rich dark purple color, mostly clear, not all that dense. Lots of oak on the aroma, accompanied by wild dark berries. Palate is really luscious marionberry, some heat, some white pepper, just a bit of oak at the end. Decent fruit-forward finish. Somewhat one dimensional, but a little more accessible than the Lucky No. 7. Probably benefits from a few years cellaring.
