Drank at wine diner at Nook with 5 other Syrahs. very nice, behaving wine, light-midweight (compared to Cali Donelan, more of summer syrah!), very silky and smooth. one of better on the table. Noe of the earthiness found in the Rhone's, and no bold jaminess that was in the Aussie Penfolds.

Tasting Syrah Blind in the Sunroom (It's for charity, after all): Very grapey on the nose with assertive black pepper, soft fruits and mild tannins. This shows a little heat on the finish but overall a very pleasant bottle. It isn't complicated but worth trying another.

As per the last bottle. Very aromatic, juicy ripe red berry fruit and a touch of spicy wood leaping from the glass. Plump and silky smooth with powerful ripe fruit and a gamey-ness on the finish. A stunning sale bargain at £32/6.

Consistent with previous bottles. Nice ripe red berry, almost bloody, aromas. Glossy and almost volumptuous with red berries filling the palate, velvety smooth with a nice meaty finish. Good.

Ruby red with strong, sweet red berry aromas. Like previous bottles the fruit is pure and ripe, the tannins fine and velvety. Nice long finish with a touch of meatiness.

Glossy ruby red. The aromas are ripe and powerful with notes of mulberry and red berries. Pure and fruity with good weight and very fine tannins. Long finish filled with cranberry and cherry. Very nice.

Ruby red with a peppery, raspberry fruit nose. Fresh and silky smooth, a nice savoury style, well balanced with a herby mid-palate, a touch of dried meats and the lightest hint of jammy blueberry fruit on the finish. Very nice.

AVTG does Syrah blind (Breggo Cellars): Tasted blind. High pitched, herbaceous, cherry aroma. Spicy, cinnamon, cherry, floral notes, smoky finish. I really like the pitch and tenor of this wine. Good stuff.

I love the Bien Nacido vineyard, it might have been overpassed by the James Berry as my favourite vineyard in the central coast, but I love it nevertheless . When you see Paul Lato does with this fruit and what krankl used to do you see this is "destined for greatness". So I was in this restaurant and did not want to spend too much on wine and chose to go with it. While not a bad chose I felt the wine was too simple. Very fruit driven wine, cherry, plums etc. But little weight to support. OK qpr...

Santa Barbara Trip - July 2011; 7/1/2011-7/6/2011: From a 375. Dark wine. Nose of dark fruits, and some dried cranberry. a touch of smoke & pepper. It's a very smooth wine. The taste of dry cran & razberry is very dominant, and there is a slightly spicy finish. Good stuff!

Decanted 90 mins ahead. Ruby color. Very nice nose with fruit and earthy elements in an excellent balance: plums, a bit of prunes, black cherries; a heat spike in June forced ripeness into overdrive that year, and the winery did what they could to control it, with good results; forest floor, mushrooms, wood; white pepper, leather. The fruit notes do not lead, rather the earthy ones, which is great. It smells older than an 08, probably due to hot conditions. And it was really fun swirling & sniffing this, picking out and balancing various aromas. Relatively soft on the palate, with an elegant feel rather than tart or oily; it's sensuous rather than austere, which is also great. Smooth finish, not long, with very light tannins. This is a helluva bottle. It's noble yet approachable, which is not a combination that I find very often. Is it a keeper? No, but it will hold for several years, fortunately for all of us.

Rich purple in colour, this Syrah is showing cool-climate elegance on the nose. I found tobacco, lightly toasted oak and mineral aromas. The palate is medium bodied with blackberry fruit, cigar smoke, white pepper and good acidity on the finish. Good long finish.

Savory with good acidity. A little bit overwhelming when first opening. Needs a good 8 hour decant to shine.
