PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs, bottle from secondary market -dense dark red with opaque center and minimal bricking -port-like ripe dark fruit -low acidity, simple ripe black fruits prune and mildly oxidized and mature elements, med- acidity -somewhat over-ripe and now picking up mature elements that combine for an inelegant expression, not falling apart but was better a few years ago when the fruit was at its (hedonistically-styled) best

Aerated then let sit in a pitcher for 1 hour before returning to the bottle for table service. Beautiful dark ruby color, medium legs. Sweet fruity nose, absent on first taste, then fruit returning on the mid-tongue and in the finish. Short finish, but nice. Gentle aged structure; a pleasure to drink.

http://perthwine.me/ Recently tried this in the M. Chapoutier masterclass held at Steve’s, and it impressed me enough to buy a few for the cellar. I find it interesting trying a wine away from a structured tasting. Almost always tastes different as you have more time and more in the glass to understand the wine. I liked this at the tasting... love it now. Juicy, ripe and silky smooth. Great balance to this wine. Nice harmony and all its components seem at peace with each other. Velvety dark fruits, sour cherries, herbs de Provence scattered in with a shaving of chocolate. Think sweet fruits with a mouth watering savoury edge. Not a big or "ballsy" wine, but it fills and touches every part of the palate. Not cheap, but I reckon well worth the price as it is an excellent example of a harmonious wine. Bravo!

Attractive nose, a little sweet with some earthy and spicy flavours. On the palate the balance is good, tannins are melted, you can sense the garrigue. Overall, a very decent wine for the simple occasions. It has nothing spectacular and delivers just about what you would expect from this level. Most importantly, it tastes like wine. Drinking well now.

- Garnet color and aromas of raspberry and lemon. It's balanced and has flavours of lemon, licorice anise and alcohol with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a medium finish - Beautifully rounded on the nose with fruits, licorice and citrus. Well balanced on the palette, but needs to breath for a while. I wouldn't call it a "Grand Vin" but would definitely suggest you give it a try or keep it.

Super colour, deepest purple, the wine sits very well with thick veins running down the glass. Liquorice on the nose. Smooth in the mouth, I can taste wood in the background, but the overwhelming flavour is of blueberry and cherry acidity. There is heat there (14.5%) alcohol, but this does not overpower the flavours. Tannins are present but balanced. A medium to long finish. A good quality wine and very good value.

Popped and poured. Very pedestrian bottle of wine. Not bad in any way but nothing to make it stand out. Fresh fruit but maybe a bit too sweet. No tannins or much acid to give it any zip or structure. Only $15 and was hoping for a nice QPR but would have to pass on purchasing any more bottles. 86 pts.

Grenache has an aging potential of 5-15 years and this one being 2009 vintage can benefits from few more years left alone in the celler that will allow the tannin to better integrate. Still nice berry and spice on the nose, ruby color and smooth finish makes this a dedent $15 bottle.

Very smart wine for $12. Ripe yet taunt as the grenache fruits show some minerality, a core of darker pongy notes yet the weight is fluffy and light. Some coating tannin right through the mouth. A little polerising; the front palate suggests the wine is very young but the lightness of structure suggests early drinking.

Such an autumnal wine. Smells of fallen leaves, walking in the forest with a cool breeze in your face. Not to get overly poetic, but, boy, did this wine fill me with images. Drinks great as well — powerful fruit and mineral notes, firm tannins and a refreshing acidity on the finish. Great. Serve at 18C. Drink now-2013. Food-pairing idea: lamb stew.

Savoureux. 14,5%

This wine was splash-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing 2-3 hours. The color is striking...a gorgeous deep purple (looking like free-run juice). The nose opens within the first hour to show moderately intense aromas of kirsch, tar, garrigue and black pepper. Medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity and medium, somewhat coarse tannins. There is a bit of heat throughout the attack and middle palate (label 14.5% alcohol), but the flavors are real, paralleling the nose and adding some minerality. The medium-length finish illuminates the juvenile tannins. This wine simply needs a bit of time. It is an '09, and at this point it is almost like a barrel tasting. That said, given the price and the overall quality, it is a wine to buy by the case and serve to guests in 2012. Drink 1/12-12/16.

Very good. Powerful yet refined and smooth. Needed the vinturi on day 1 but beautifully open on day 2. Not very complex but the mouthfeel is rich, full, and smooth. A big wine.
