(BAROLO Oddero MONDOCA) Barolo SPECIAL Dear Friends, I'm running today, but a few serious deals came through while I was waiting for my flight and this one is right up there. We rarely find Friday-worthy specials on Barolo, especially a current release (from an excellent vintage), so this is quite exciting. Normally $60-70 or more, Oddero's 2001 Mondoca will surprise and it should be even better with another 4-6 years in the cellar. The first time I tasted this (in barrel) it was almost too austere but the years of age have left a graceful and nuanced imprint that will impress the fastidious Barolo enthusiast. The 2001 Mondoca has a special, feminine quality meshed with the tannic power only Barolo can provide - it is full of floral character and a finish that will not only compliment your meal but last on the palate long after your final bite. It wouldn't surprise me if many of you were seduced by the complex palate profile of this wine and it's at a price that's tough to beat in Barolo. Only a few hundred cases produced in 2001: We have a terrific price on this wine, about the same as in Alba This parcel has perfect provenance directly from the source: 2001 Oddero Barolo Mondoca di Bussia Soprana (Veronelli 3/3-star) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy6099
