(Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis, Burgundy) This domaine makes some of the truest expressions of Chablis today. Its premier and grand cru wines can be as distinctive and refined (and expensive) as those of the other top producers in the region, but for the price, it’s the village wine that really blows me away. The 2008, made in 100% stainless steel, puts forth the classic nose of limestone and oyster shell. In the glass, it is as brilliant and shiny as M. Moreau’s bald head. The palate is lean, with fresh acidity, delicious lime-zest flavors, and a maritime saline quality. The bone-dry finish lingers far longer than in most wines at this price. Hot Picks
