(CUPOLE Trinoro) Celebration Dear Friends, I hope your holiday weekend was a special one! To kick off a celebratory week, today’s offer ranks as one of the very best price/value bargains of 2010...so I saved it for last. We’ve offered the 2007 Le Cupole 3-4 other times (at a much higher tariff) but we continue to receive re-order requests at a consistent clip. That typically means the wine has hit a nerve with the Email List as the requests have come from a diverse and wide range of palates. At , it was already one of the best deals in high-end Tuscan wine, at today’s celebratory price, it’s just about crazy. Grown with strict organic principals that utilize a series of clay, lime and grapefruit seed as “pesticides” instead of chemicals, Andrea Franchetti labors over the upbringing of this wine with the same detail as his $200-300 Tenuta di Trinoro. From a preponderance of estate grown Cabernet Franc, this is a large-scaled but still medium-weight and elegant rendition of Bordeaux meets Tuscany with a decided slant toward the style of something like Tertre Roteboeuf. As a comparison to what’s available on the world market, there really is no other comparison at the level (maybe something like Ornellaia’s Le Serre Nuove but that is and more obviously extracted/oaked?): Ian d’Agata: “Only Andre Franchetti, an enological genius, can amuse himself with small percentage of 3% Cesanese, 2% of uva di Troia and the like, all grape varieties that are atypical for the area he has chosen to cultivate them in. Le Cupole is amazingly rich in ripe fresh fruit and has to be considered a true masterpiece, also in view of its very fair price. You won’t find a better bottle of red wine anywhere”. Whatever you make of it, this is a contender for the #1 deal of 2010 and the bottled wine is deserving of the accolades (not just printed words of praise). If you have any interest in this wine, please let Niki know at your earliest convenience. (CUPOLE Trinoro) Cupole Redux Dear Friends, Another pleasant surprise this morning - a second parcel of Tenuta di Trinoro's 2007 Le Cupole is on the way - directly from the winery cellar. If you are looking for provenance, it doesn't get much closer to the source than this. Already an email list favorite for its sultry style, this wine continue to integrate and improve with an exotic "please drink me" flair that sets it apart. For the tariff, I will reiterate its status among the top price/value candidates in all of Tuscany, especially compared to the Cabernet-based entrants from Bolgheri (although the Le Cupole is from Sarteano, which is actually closer to Lago Trasimeno and Umbria than the Mediterranean). In addition, it would not be out of place as the second wine of a Bordeaux stand-out like Tertre Roteboeuf (at a fraction of the cost). The 2007 is the most critically acclaimed version of this wine yet - it has become something of an enigma on our shores so I will leave it at that: This parcel is directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance VERY RARE in the US: 2007 Tenuta di Trinoro "Le Cupole" IGT (750ml) (the $30 price on this wine in Europe is not the norm anymore) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy5488
(Tenuta di Trinoro Le Cupole IGT 3.0lt) Trinoro Dear Friends, If you are spending $50-100 or more on Pichon-Baron, Clos du Marquis, Ornellaia or even something like Tertre Roteboeuf, this wine should peak your interest as it is one of the very finest price/value stars in the world of Cabernet and Franc blends. In a blind tasting with any of the wines above, the 2007 Le Cupole will more than hold its own and the exotic twist from the Tuscan sun sets it apart. This wine has been very hard for us to obtain this year as it's been equally as popular in Europe as in the US. Whatever meager amount came to our shores appears to have disappeared at this point (when you read Antonio Galloni's review below you will understand why this has sold through the market so quickly - the hype is justified). I'm not going to go any further as quantities are too limited. With that, here goes - this one speaks for itself... This parcel is directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance: 2007 Tenuta di Trinoro "Le Cupole" IGT (750ml) (I'm not sure any exists in the US at this point for a price comparison) 2007 Tenuta di Trinoro "Le Cupole" IGT 1.5lt 2007 Tenuta di Trinoro "Le Cupole" IGT 3.0lt Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy3211 Italy3212 Italy3213
