Regarding the Cabernet Sauvignon: Vineyard sources have changed over the years. Decades ago (early 1980s) Caparone used Tepusquet Vineyard fruit (Santa Maria Valley) and then for decades until around the early 2000s, Bien Nacido Vineyard fruit (Santa Maria Valley) before moving to French Camp Vineyard fruit (Paso Robles; far east side in what later became the Paso Robles Highlands sub-AVA). This seems to have only been for a handful of years. Beginning around 2007 bottles just indicate "Paso Robles" on the front label with the back label including "From a vineyard near the Temblor mountain range in eastern San Luis Obispo County..." Well, technically that could describe French Camp, but doubtful, because why wouldn't they persist in using the French Camp label? The description would include the San Juan Creek (centered around Shandon) and Paso Robles Highlands (where French Camp is located) sub-AVAs, but could also include the generic Paso Robles AVA land that is even further east. Even after the creation of the sub-AVAs in late 2014 I don't think Caparone has bothered including them on their labels, preferring to just stick with the generic Paso Robles AVA on labels.
