ji fɥi.se]) is an appellation (AOC) for white wine in the Mâconnais subregion of Burgundy in central France, located in the communes of Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly, Vergisson and Chaintré. Pouilly-Fuissé has Chardonnay as the only grape variety. Pouilly-Fuissé is the best-known part of Mâconnais.

Pouilly Fuisse is often compared to Chablis Chardonnays. However, there are major differences between the two – Chablis is unoaked which makes it far more acidic, while Pouilly Fuisse's oak barrel aging imparts more body and buttery mouthfeel to the wines.

Appellation and wine style This made Pouilly-Fuissé the first Mâconnais subregion to achieve that status for its best vineyards. The typical Pouilly-Fuissé wine is full-bodied, ripe and relatively elegant, with the best examples rivaling the finer wines of the Côte de Beaune.

Sancerre typically has a lean body and vibrant acidity, with refreshing and crisp citrusy flavors alongside notes of green grass. Pouilly-Fumé, on the other hand, boasts a medium body, with flavors leaning towards more stone fruits and apples, sometimes with floral or smoky notes.
