Naturally, the longer Armagnac ages, the more the final product is likely to cost. Distilling other spirits is much less expensive than distilling Armagnac. 90% of other spirits are produced using distilling procedures where the cost is very low. But with Armagnac, it's the opposite.

ARMAGNAC VS COGNAC : DISTILLATION The distillation process specific to each determines the specific qualities of these unaged spirits. Armagnac is distilled only once, in an Armagnac still (with columns), while Cognac is distilled twice, in a Charente still (which does not have columns).

All brandy is made by distilling wine, but Armagnac is distilled only once, meaning that it keeps some of the flavour, fragrance, and body of the original wine. Once distillation has taken place, the liquid is aged in oak barrels, which have the capacity to hold about 400 litres.
