Marroneto is a small producer just outside the town of Montalcino. They create classic Brunello built for aging, elegant yet structured. Il Marroneto was purchased in 1974 by Giuseppe Mori, father of the current owner, Alessandro Mori. Initially, the Mori family made wine in two small rooms in the basement of the family home. As the company evolved, the basement was expanded and Alessandro took over the family business, following his passion. The towers of the city of Siena are the backdrop of the estate’s vineyards located high on the slopes of the hill of Montalcino, an area where grapes have been cultivated since the times of the Etruscans. Alessandro Mori grows only Sangiovese grapes and follows a biodynamic approach to cultivation (although not certified), always abiding by the strict Montalcino regulations. No herbicides are used on the plants. The wines are aged in the coveted Allier and Slovenian oak casks located in the 13th-century tower which, in past centuries, was used for drying out chestnuts.
