The vineyards used in Petalos are rented vineyards in and around the village of Corullon. All the vineyards are from schist based soils with vines ranging in age from 40 - 90 years old. Ricardo Perez implements organic and biodynamic practices. All wine making is done biodynamically. The wines are fermented in large oak fermentors with punch down. Maceration for about 25 days. No fining or filtering. Production: 25,000 cases

2009 is considered by Ricardo to be one of the best vintages they have ever produced. The wine is still floral with lots of berries on the nose, but deeper and more concentrated on the palate than 2008.

Varieties Mencía
Wood Treatment Petalos ages for a few weeks in new French oak barriques followed by 6-10 months in 2nd and 3rd passage barrels.
