Our 6th vintage from the Las Madres Vineyard brought us another late harvest mixed with anxiety and triumph. Yields were lowered to one cluster per shoot to insure we would harvest phenolically ripe fruit come early November.
Trademark deep purple hues combine with copious aromas of bacon, blackberries, and earth with a hint of olives in the background soar from the glass when swirled. The mid palate exhibits plenty of forest floor, acacia flower, black currant, wild berry notes, light tannins, and medium to full body. With a gamey mouth feel this wine feels similar to a French Crozes - Hermitage. The finish of this wine is still very primary but already shows a measure of finesse. Already a stunner, it will gain further complexity after 4-5 years of cellaring.
