Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Bordeaux France

Just down the road from Yquem, is the large, beautiful estate of Suduiraut, 40 km from Bordeaux. On the left bank of the Garonne, Comte Blaise de Suduiraut built the this noble and aesthetically brilliant Château that is replete with stunning gardens designed by the very famous Le Nôtre. Suduiraut is one of the great wines of Sauternes, reknowned for their aromatic complexity and wealth of exotic flavours. The Château’s privileged sandy soils are well-drained and layered with gravel. In September misty mornings are followed by warm afternoons that allow for the development of botrytis cinerea, or noble rot. This in turn delivers the rich and distinctive taste of sweet but balanced wines kissed by honey and marked by lively acidity and opulent textures.

Christian Seely is the managing director of Château Suduiraut. He and his outstanding team are dedicated to the complete success of the Château. Their experience of assemblages of Sémillon (90 %) and Sauvignon (10 %) offer a full-bodied wine of a beautiful gold colour with amber tinges. The wine lies in wooden barrels for 18-24 months. This Sauternes displays harmony, power and marked complexity.
