The 2009 Collaboration Series III is a pure, energetic Syrah that showcases the terroir of Ciel du Cheval, effectively conveyed by the blending of four different syrah clones selected by Ryan Johnson. The result as described by the Wine Spectator’s Harvey Steiman: “Density, expansiveness and surprising transparency for such a big wine combine to make the spicy, floral plum and blackberry flavors hover nicely over refined tannins and linger on the long, complex finish. Hints of pepper and mineral add depth.”
