The estate is located in the commune of Graach-Schäferei in the Mosel wine-growing region in Germany. The family has been involved in wine production since the 17th century, the estate itself was founded in 1968. Patrick Philipps, who initially worked in a different field, and his wife Michaela took over the business in 1998. Since then, considerable investment has been made, mainly to improve the cellar and bring it up to date. A guest house is also available. The vineyard area totals 3,5 hectares in the top-rated Graacher Domprobst and Himmelreich sites, as well as holdings in the Bernkasteler Johannisbrünnchen (holdings in the Himmelreich and Sonnenuhr sites in Zeltingen have been given up). More than 90% of the area is planted with Riesling, the remainder includes small amounts of Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. A third each of the wines is made in a dry, off-dry and sweet style, and all wines are matured exclusively in stainless steel tanks. Annual production is around 40.000 bottles of wine. Perlé wines as well as bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
