Could use another year or three of cellaring, but this was fantastic regardless. It has some interesting stuff in there very chard like — such as a bit of almond paste, flint, lemon peel. Then some things not typically Chardonnay — like Red Delicious apple peel, a hint of cinnamon. Something else off the wall hit me though — I couldn’t place it. Then I got a flash of cherry and licorice, but the cherry is almost like a liqueur, maybe kirsch. Otaola comes to mind actually. Add to that saline and mouth puckering acid. What a nice experience I had drinking this. One detractor was a bit of too-bitter almond on the acid in the finish m, but I’d expect that to resolve with some cellaring, plus, I actually kind of like it ;-)
Cellared for two+ more years I’d expect to rate more like 93. And a decade more? Seriously it could easily hold up and might be truly epic.

Simple but in a style I love — clearly going for high toned Chablis thing. Again, not complex, but hits some solidly good notes and is charming in a way. Honestly I can’t think of another chard at this price point ($16) I’d prefer. Thus my very positive rating :)

In a good place right now! Recommend at least an hour or two in decanter.
