Substantially better than a bottle of two years ago. On the nose, pure, almost bright red fruit (currant and raspberry), with a hint of leather, bell pepper, and oak. Palate offers bing cherry, raspberry, bittersweet chocolate, black pepper and coffee. Long finish with gentle, sweet tannin. Very nice.
Deep purple. On the nose, cranberry and currant, with a very prominent (not unpleasant) green note of dill and jalepeno, interlaced with tabacco. Palate opens up with currant and a hint of juicy black cherry, with more dill and some mint. Initially a bit flabby and hot on the finish, but picked up weight with time in the decanter and rounded out nicely by the end of the night. Drink or hold.
A bit more reticent than a bottle of seven months ago, even after several hours in the deecanter. On the nose, stewed cherry, with loads of baking spice and notes of hard candy and underbrush. Palate offers a mix of red and black (cherry and black cherry), with more baking spice and nice spine of mineral and tannin. Very solid bottle, but I'd like more for the price.
