2022 Domaine du Mont Verrier Beaujolais-Villages
4/1/2024 - Zoltán Németi Likes this wine: 89 Points
This is rather Beaujolais Cru quality. Cheerful, juicy but also quite structured. Ripe, dark, black cherry nose with a bit of the trademark hibiscus note of the whole bunches, so inviting. Beautiful textured, velvety, it’s just medium-bodied, but quite dense. Great, firm tannins provide a proper backbone. Very good. Great value for 10,50€, highly recommended.

2021 Eszterbauer Szekszárdi Tanyamacska

Oak hides fruits and varietal character on the nose. The good part is the attack on the palate, but then it becomes disjointed and sharp towards the finish – a common theme in Hungarian wines in 2021. Challenging rather than delicious. The prominent oak makes it even less appealing.

2021 Yannick Amirault Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil La Source

Just a bit funky and old school. Jumps out of the glass and also quite lively. Violets, ink on the nose, next to leafy, graphite and leather notes. No oak in sight. Light on its feet but not on flavour – perhaps the right word is smashable. Bone dry but rather juicy than austere. The lowish alcohol (13%) makes it even more refreshing. Drink now, although it can be kept for a few years.
