2/7/2022 12:55:00 AM - Hi Vincent, The 2005 Viñedos Lacalle y Laorden Rioja Viña el Pisón is (already a few years) very ready to drink. Will it develop further? Yes, I'm convinced that it wil get more 'tertiary aroma's' in the future. But this is not a matter of improving quality but a matter of taste. To be honest, I used to drink most of my wines at the end of their drinking window. The older, the better... That has changed for me, ESPECIALLY for Spanish wines. A few years ago I had a vertical tasting of almost all the vintages of Clos Mogador. And started to drink the most of them in max. 10 years (although the 2005 was GREAT in 2021). The same with (Flor de) Pingus and Aalto... The beautiful thing is... it's all for our 'wine education', and we will NEVER graduate ;-) Kind regards, Wim de Leeuw PS: I once had a DRC-tasting. Later I described that as 'the DRC Deception'. About 15 bottles and non of them made a really great impression... the worst 'value for money' thinkable... Most wines were 'hard', some even 'greenish'. A half year later I drank a 1962 Grands Echezeaux that was one of my best wines I ever tasted. French Pinot Noir is difficult. Can be great, but this monocepage is very unpredictable.
