I drank this bottle from a professional storage setting. Ullage was high-shoulder. I was very surprised that this bottle still had a deep garnet color, with not nearly the amount or bricking I would normally expect. While the cork proved a challenge, the wine was still in great condition, all things considered. We open the bottle and did not decant. Opened up nicely in the glass over the course of an hour. Still had fruit and some tannin but relatively low acidity. Keep in mind, this wine was bottled at 12% ABV. The other bottle in the cellar had much more ullage than the one we opened so if you have one of these at high-shoulder or above, drink up.

One of the first purchases I made in terms of red Burgundy. I have become a big fan of Beaune since then. This wine opened up in the glass and really impressed with its mouthfeel. Not heavy on the pallet with very lively tannins. Paired will with oxtail. I have another one of these that I won’t open for a few more years.

I have always been a big fan of California wines from 1985-1995. This vintage fits nearly right in the middle and did not disappoint. There was plenty of fruit left in this bottle with well integrated tannin (its 26!). It is definitely a drink now bottle at this point.
