This is my kind of zin. Crunchy, brambly red fruit, as though you picked it off a wild bush in the Sierras, lots of mineral and acid, no heaviness or creaminess. Carlisle's 2011s may go down as some of the best zins of all time, if you share my love for that style of zin.
Disappointing. I enjoy zins, and bigger zins like Turley and Carlisle, but this, like the 2012 Denner zin I had recently, is just sugary sweet. I'm especially disappointed that a 2011 zin could be this sweet tasting. I'm not confident in saying whether a wine has RS or not, but the 2011 and 2012 have both tasted as though they did. Other wines I've had from Denner in recent years, while obviously modern wines, have not had this sugary finish to them; I think I'm going to discontinue buying the zins.
