So who says there is no upside to the eco-meltdown. I bought a case of this for $41.00 PB. The wine is drinking great but still has many years of great drinking. Deep Ruby, Great cherry nose, Black Licorice, plum and a really nice minerally finish with plenty of tannins.
Opened with some charcoal grilled pizza today after getting my delivery last week. Decanted for about an hour and found it to be drinking very well right now. Beautiful full mouthful of very balanced fruit (black cherry and jammy plum) followed by some spice and a mineral finish that shows it will keep getting better. I am very happy I bought a case, I hope I can save some for a few years to watch this improve.
Big fan of these wines. the 2001 does have more heat than I expected. Black cherry and minerals no fruit bomb here still pretty tight. Fruit doesnt stay in your palate too long, tannins take over pretty quickly, I think this wine may need 3 to 5 years to come together. I hope the next bottle I open in 3 years is a 93
