Lunch at 67 Pall Mall (67 Pall Mall): Medium gold appearance. Citrus fruit (lemon), pear, stone fruit and tropical fruit (pineapple). Nuttiness (hazelnut), creamy buttery notes, vanilla, smokiness. Very complex. High acidity, full body, long finish. Excellent wine, hope the remaining 5 are as good as this. WOTD for some in our group.
Lunch at 67 Pall Mall (67 Pall Mall): Very promising high fill level and the bottle was in excellent condition which was to be expected as this originated from my father's cellar. Cork was removed intact by the sommelier using a Durand corkscrew (note to myself make sure this is on the Xmas wish list) and decanted but only for about 15 mins before we started drinking it.
Medium garnet colour with some browning round the edges. Complex nose including dark fruit, leather, tobacco/cigar box and more tertiary notes which were also present on the palate. Acidity and tannins still evident but very soft and well integrated. Medium body, long finish. The wine kept improving over the next hour or so and luckily was finished before it started fading. Excellent wine.
Lunch at 67 Pall Mall (67 Pall Mall): Deep amber colour. Pronounced nose of stone (peach, apricot), marmalade, honey and some tropical fruits (ripe pineapple). High acidity, full body, sweet but not cloying, very pronounced flavours as per nose, long finish. Fabulous wine.
