After a three-hour decant, the wine was all over the place, although it had an excellent, long-lasting finish. Lots of dark fruit, still having a Bordeaux flavor with a mix of sweetness. It has morphed into an underwhelming wine.

I decanted this magnificent wine for three hours. Hello, Mt. Veeder. Afterward, we enjoyed it over dinner for two more hours. After the first hour at dinner, it hit its stride. It is a full-body, opaque purple with blackberries, herbs, cherries, and a hint of licorice. It underwent a tannin metamorphosis that made each 15 minutes different. Strongly recommend this outstanding wine.

I decanted for three hours—dark fruits, pure and complex, with e black currant and blackberry, cherries, fruit. I would HOLD and drink in a year or two. Right now, it is very tight and needs time to show its character.

2/26/2019 5:12:00 AM - Badmonkey, I would highly recommend both. These Hourglass wines are expensive, but no-brainers. In my judgment, Jeb Debunnuk is the #1 wine evaluator in Napa and consider his recommendations better than Vinous or Parker. In fact, I just subscribed to his website. Your spot on posts made me purchase Myriad, Carter, Quivet, Realm and a few others. Without you, there is no way I would have known how great they are. All the best.
2/26/2019 4:30:00 AM - fastcar888, thank you for the kind words and the recommendation. I haven't had their wines yet but I almost bought a bottle of their 2013 Estate cab at a local store around Christmas in consideration of the 94 to 96+ rating from WA and the fact that it's 100% cab - I tend to prefer how 100% cabs finish. However, I decided to hold-off because the CT notes/reviews were somewhat underwhelming especially for a $150 bottle. Would you recommend the 2016 Estate cab or the Blueline? I noticed your review for the Blueline cab. Nice note. Thanks again. Take care.
10/17/2018 10:16:00 AM - I'm not sure about that but thank you once again for the kind words. Although a lot of the information in regards to Myriad, Quivet, Carter, etc. comes directly from Mike and Leah Smith so it should be informative/helpful in consideration of the source. Thanks again.
