Black licorice dark red cherry and clove, dark chocolate, sweet raspberry, kirsch, violet floral nose, charcoal cough syrup undertone, just fresh and so pleasant on the nose.
Sweet red cherry fruit and overripe raspberry on the palate with soft, very soft on the midpalate and teasing acidity on the sides of the tongue that linger only a short time before dissipating.
Not as expressive as my favorite cerasuolo di vittoria by Planeta but different, classic in it's fresh acidity and light but expressive red fruit on the palate and perfect with a meal of fried potatoes w/ rosemary, plates of prociutto crudo, and classic.

Now made with fresh pineapples and produced in the traditional method! Sabred for SF's bday, warm zucchini loaf, fresh coconut and canned pineapple are nicely woven on the nose with doughy undertones.
On the palate, the bubbles are tiny and nicely textured. I taste fresh pineapple on the palate with a constant exchange of lemon/lime and a slightly salty taste on the midpalate. There is a slightly rough mousse with great acidity on the sides of the mouth following through to the finish with a fresh tartness that stays on the sides of the cheeks and on the tops of the gums.
Although the taste and aroma of pineapple is definitely prominent, there is a definite winey quality to it. Well balanced, refreshing, and would pair so wonderfully with any luau dish!

Initially youthful notes (especially for it's age) of subtle tomato skin, floral and mineral and a bit a barnyard/earthy quality that has blown off and now it has closed up a little but also a touch of heat on the nose.
The palate is lean and lively and screaming of bright cherry and cherry tomato; underlying but very subtle mushroom notes. The finish lingers with a clean acidity and the whole wine is tied together by a rustic theme while still being clean, fresh and refined.
Great on it own or with antipasti.
Tasted at Mercatto with PK.
