Beautiful deep garnet robe with no bricking, nice nose of red fruits and garrigue, but in the mouth just a blast of rather uninteresting sweet red fruit ( one man's 'Kirsch' is another man's 'syrupy' ) without any nuance or secondary flavors, followed by too much heat. This would not stand out as a CdeP in a blind tasting of California Rhone wines. I'll wait for a few years to try the next bottle, hoping for some interesting complexity to develop, but that heat will never go away. Way too expensive for what it is.
11-22-14 A sulphur off-smell took a while to blow off; even so this was a fresh, fruity, gluggable wine that is ready to drink, and very enjoyable with goat cheese, rabbit terrine, etc., and will hold for a couple of years. decant and wait 30-60 min., ideally.
All the approachability of a Beaujolais village somehow packaged in a classic claret; a delightful wine good on its own and complimenting a wide variety of food. Delicious, fresh fruit with just enough acid and soft tannins, best now and next 2-3 years. (No whiff of brett.)
