  • 2010 Tensley Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard

I do love Tensley Syrah, that being said I don't know if the bottle is going through a dumb phase or just the 2010 is a bit light and flabby, and seems to be missing some acidity. Flavors of Blue fruit, cassis, some baking spice, tar, menthol, lavender were apparent, just seemed to be missing the mid palate and also a shorter finish than i last remember. Don't get me wrong it is a good bottle, just seemed to be missing a bit from previous Tensley's. I am not sure if cellaring longer will benefit and not sure if it will make the estimated 2021, but have one more bottle of the 2010 to look forward to crack in another year or so.

  • 2005 Del Dotto Cabernet Sauvignon Connoisseurs Series Missouri 36 Month St. Helena Mountain

Was good on opening, tastes of plum, black current, cinnamon, and a hint of clove, oak was not over powering but evident and it had a nice finish and unfortunately not much mid.

I did love this bottle at the barrel tasting when purchased, and have had a number of good bottles throughout its short 10 years, enjoyable but not mind blowing. As the other reviews say, it is not a multi dimensional wine, though IMHO it is a good bottle, but for the price tag would have expected it to be a great bottle and at a minimum should have held up much better, even evolved over time.

Unfortunately, at this point, once opened it needs to be consumed quickly - would not recommending decanting as it does start to fall apart the longer exposed to air. After 30 min - 1 hr, started to develop some green pepper even sour notes. On its decline, so drink em up if you got em', definitely don't think it would get any better and IMHO don't think they will hold up too much longer.

  • 2008 Kobalt Cabernet Sauvignon

This was still HUGE, amazing nose of menthol and tar with blue and black fruits, on the palate was powerful, almost had a Sine Qua Non type of entry, very extracted with Vanilla, Pencil Lead, Cassis, Blackberry, Tar. Dark almost black appearance, showed not signs of age or oxidation. Had A minute + long finish, excellent, mellowed after an hour but definitely a treat and looking forward to the next two bottle in cellar, drinking fabulously now, but think these bottles have another 10 years.
