  • 2010 Clos du Moulin aux Moines Auxey-Duresses Moulin aux Moines Blanc

    Enjoyed over a few days.
This 5 yr old white Burgundy has a med gold color.
The nose is inviting, with obvious vanilla oak notes, and plentiful, ripe orchard fruits.
The palate shows off a full bodied Chard with apple and pear fruit, some citrus in the upper register, vanilla and hazelnut, a hint of spice. Med acidity, med+ finish.
Nicely balanced and coming together, significantly moreso than my last bottle (1.5 yrs ago). Delicious now and through 2018+.

  • 2011 Kinkead Ridge Cabernet Franc

This was a weak showing for Kinkead Ridge.
PnP- red fruit and tobacco on the nose. Cherry pit and soil tones on the palate.
This wine has med(-) tannins with a med(-) mouthfeel and med acidity. Shortish finish. Not a Euro-centric wine, like I oftentimes get with KR wines.
Good but not great. Drink now through 2017+.

  • 2008 Château de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel

PnP last night. TN from today.
Med ruby at the core, fading to a med tawny rim.
Nose is med+ intensity with a lot of spiciness, with raisined plums, wet dirt, and a citrus rind in the upper register.
The palate shows a slight frizzante, that seems to have improved since yesterday. Full bodied wine, 14% abv, with med+ intensity, rustic and edgy tannins that are right at home with a plate of food. There is nice med acidity, with ripe blue and red fruit, black pepper, tar, and a rocky minerality. The finish is med length and repeats the flavors from the palate. The rustic tannins persist for 30 secs or so. Nice astringency.
Very tasty Coudoulet, drinking beautifully now, and will continue to drink well through 2020+, but I'll enjoy mine within a year or 2. Very good.
