This is right where you want it. The cork had bled a bit so I was worried, but perfect right out of the gates - no need to decant. Great dark fruit notes. Jammy blackberries, notes of chocolate, bit of warm oak and caramel. Rich but soft mouthfeel. No bite. The flavors linger. We popped in a glass cork and got back to it the next day and it was just as good. It's in a great place, no sense waiting - just drink and enjoy.

Really pretty wine. The nose is great, offering rainier cherries and sweet orange citrus, something along the lines of clementine or mandarins. There's a bit of peach skin and spice too, but the cherry and citrus interplay really takes center stage. There's an herbal note on the nose too that I can't quite put my finger on - maybe lavender and a bit floral. Bright upon entry, still red but softer - more strawberry then cherry. There's a really nice overripe yellow peach note running across the palate too. Some acidity, but really - it's a soft and very approachable wine. I tend to like mineral driven roses but this might be my current front runner for the best rose I've enjoyed all year.

The nose is what really makes this wine, just an outstanding scent. Smell deep enough you'll catch every end of the citrus spectrum - tonight was particularly pulpy, with bitter grapefruit playing against sweeter mandarins. There's an herbal quality too, though I also caught scents of vanilla, honey and fresh spring flowers. Perfect balance against bitter and sweet, very approachable. Dry against the palate, lots of acid and more citrus bite. Lingering finish and a nice compliment to food but the taste across the palate doesn't quite match the depth of the nose. Really nice wine.
