  • 2010 Alpha Omega Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot

This definitely benefits from some air time, I tried it at open and it was fine, but by the first real glass four hours later it was a totally different animal. It was a really pretty wine, lighter than I expected, and totally approachable. Notes of black cherries, blueberries and graham cracker on the nose. The berry notes turn red across the palate. Edges are smooth and soft, with a nice lingering mouth feel.

Many people seem to comment about how AO wines are "crowd pleasers" given how big and fruit forward the tend to be.... this one offers a great fruit profile but seems much more restrained and nuanced - one of the most enjoyable bottles we've had from AO. Give it some air but this is drinking really well right now.

  • 2007 De Ponte Cellars Pinot Noir Dundee Hills

For everyone that discounted 07s out of gates the extra bottle time has caused the wine to really evolve. It's taken on a ton more weight without sacrificing punchy acidity. Fruit has integrated and while there's still notes of red berries and cherries the secondary notes of baker's chocolate, spice and earth are more dominant at this point. Really nice wine. It's drinking really well right now.

  • 2010 Alpha Omega Red Wine (not Proprietary Red)

You'll want to give this some time after opening - first notes were faint. After four hours the nose was rich with dark blue and black fruits, like fresh cobbler right from the oven, the edges caramelized and sweet. Fruit continues across the palate, leaning slightly more to red fruits like currants. The mouth-feel is rich without being heavy. Some oak, slight green notes at the finish.... but really, you're here for the fruit - easy and enjoyable. Nice wine.
