Polished nose of graphite and dark berries. Not outlandish, calm and aristocratic vanilla bouquet. On the palate, it explodes with st julien minierality and serious black fruits. Viscous and rounded. Finishes round and long. Only if aromatics are less severe and more generous and soft ala Margaux.....it will be the perfect claret.
Where is the Margaux RS fragrance? Heavy handed wine-making. Dense brooding black fruits dominate palate. High alcohol and tannins. Need a huge decant or many more years of sleep. Hidden promise, but 88 for now.
P&P, mistake - still a tannic monster. Nose & palate are v stern. Can discern layers of black fruits underneath the wall of tannins but has a disturbing bitter burnt toast element in the taste profile. Maybe another few years will help mellow, but not enjoyable now.
