Burgundy Al's description gets it right, but I'm upping the score to a solid 90. I'd like to think the difference is the wine has hit its stride in this drinking window. If ya got 'em, Pop 'em and enjoy.

Full disclosure - Tambor vineyard is owned by my cousins. Medium dark purple eye, rosy at rim with no bricking. Nose -menthol, mint, bay leaf on the top, under which is a hint of dark plum. Palate sweet minty plum, beautiful, silky sweet tannins, medium plus acidity. Medium weight. Long finish turning fruit to dark sour cherry pie and a bit of grip. Sophisticated Cali cab drinking towards the old world. Drinking wonderfully now but I think it has a couple of years ahead at least.

To the eye orange/gold/light brown tint, a bit cloudy (had it laid down so not a fair take) Burnt orange, candle wax, petrol on the nose. Spicy citrus/tangerine. Hint of wood smoke. I had 2 bottles and drank the first 2 years ago. Had no idea what to make of it then and did not appeal to me. Tonight very different impression. For sure not for everyone, more in the wine geek territory. The burnt orange, spicy citrus and paraffin follows on the pallet framed with good acidity. My association is to a dry furmint on steroids - concentrated intense desert wine like without the sweetness. Had it with a lemon thyme roasted chicken breast which made a terrific pairing. thoughtful juice which needs some work at understanding it, but once I got it it was a thoroughly enjoyable unique bottle. No rating as it is going to be a very subjective experience. Curious how others found this.....
