I was shocked how young this wine still is. I was quite disappointed as were a number of guests with the wine since it was decanted for four hours and still had heavy alcohol overtones. As I later realized, it had 15.7% alcohol which I think is utterly absurd with such a fine name as Colgin. This vintage easily has another 7-10 years before it is even approachable.

This was a big disappointment. The 2005 was the best zin I've ever had and the 2006 was flat from start to finish. We even decanted it for an hour and opened a second bottle to make sure it wasn't a bad bottle. Both were the same. Just a poor vintage.
